Making sure you have the correct legislation in your POC.0 -

I am pleased by the ruling.
If you don't like the charges then don't borrow the money!
I am a pensioner, by the way and living on a low fixed income.
Yeah, and I'm the Pope! :rotfl:0 -
Save through the good times so you have it in the bad.0

Simple. That's what you agreed when you opened the account. If you don't want to pay £35 don't go beyond your authorised overdraft.
really???
so lloyds bank haven't increased the bank charges since all this court action started?
there are many reasons ppl get bank charges, a lot of these beyond their control. hopefully you sanctimonious wind up merchants wont ever find yourselves in a situation that causes you financial hardship.0 -
Hi what a joke dont we own a share in most of these banks as TAXPAYERS!!! What about all the people who had their money refunded in the early days why did the banks honour this then and not now arnt they contradicting themselves or were they running scared in the early days when all this came to light and just paid out to keep people sweet!! Everybody should pull all savings etc out of U.K bank accounts send funds abroad its a joke.0

How can I reduce my outgoings? My mortgage, council tax, fuel bills, commuting costs etc are all fixed! I have cut back wherever possible, but there are some costs that are beyond my control!
The bank charges reclaim shouldn't fund your shortfall.
Have you considered selling and moving closer and maybe rent? This is not an easy time for alot of people, but I don't hear them saying they are in hardship and want to reclaim money from there bank cause they went overdrawn.
If you need help to reduce your outgoings may I suggest the Debt Free Board, and post a statement of affairs and the lovely peeps on that board will try and help you.0 -
What a victory for common sense and a lucky escape for the majority who already pay enough for those who do not, or cannot, behave in an appropriate way.
People should have understood when they signed up what the fees where and if they did not read or understand that is their problem.
People should make plans for emergencies so if they lose their job they have something to fall back on. I have had a baby and my wife has lost her job this year but because we have planned for all contingencies we are fine.
If they do not and they spend someone else's money (the banks) they should pay up.
If we keep on hitting the banks we may all get a few quid back but a source of massive employment in this country and, because most of our pension funds are invested in shares, ALL OUR FUTURE PENSIONS will be put at risk.
I am sick of this something for nothing country and have nothing but praise for the Supreme Court. I will be taking advantage of Martin's half price champagne offer to celebrate.
I wish all these people who maintain that THEY are paying for us would get the message, NO-ONE is disputing taking responsibility, or not paying a fair charge, just taking issue with UNFAIR charging. But it would seem that some people are just unbelievably dense.0 -
Charging is fair - the amount charged isnt. They should just cover their losses/administration fees and not charge to make a profit. That I agree on.Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0
