i cant believe the ABUSE being put on here
ABUSE is not a view point.
and like the bank charges is most damaging to those who are financially most vulnerable
PLEASE REPORT IT0 -
Simple. That's what you agreed when you opened the account. If you don't want to pay £35 don't go beyond your authorised overdraft.
I agree with this statement, the banks send notification of charges by letter to your home to inform you of changes to terms and conditions and to charges, no-one can say they are hidden charges, you had the opportunity to read the info the bank send and you happily agreed to bank with them.0 -
Thats another thing - the banks didn't like the outcome and therefore had 3 appeals. Can we not now do the same? e.g appeal until we get the answer we wan?
Oh yeah of course not this is Britain....0 -
I don't understand what all the fuss is about - this is EXCELLENT NEWS.
If the banks had lost they would have to make money other ways - for example by charging us all to have an account, use a cash machine, etc.
As it stands, people who are stupid enough to borrow money from their bank without first setting up the rights to borrow the money are paying all these fees for us.
I can't think of a better out come. Long live free banking for those who are sensible and have some common sense.
They are already charging us for accounts. It's called TAXIATION! You know, the bill we had to pay when the banks f****d up the first time, even though they had £2.6 billion in bank charges to play with!!
This isn't about being sensible. This is about being charged EXCESSIVE charges after EXCESSIVE charges, to pay for the bosses New Year knees up - the same bosses who don't get a toss about Mr and Mrs 'I keep all my finances in check, this is great news' or those who come onto this site for advice on their problems!0 -

I just hope those of you holding us all responsible for getting ourselves in this 'mess' don't have to experience redundancy, pay cuts etc. Then again maybe it would be a good thing, then you can see that living in the real world is not as easy and wonderful as you perceive it to be through your rose tinted spectacles!
Really? I hope that they all get to experience it. They would change their opinions then, I am sure. Smug, smug people.0 -
I cant believe everyone has a problem with this. I mean this is the UK, the finest country in the world isnt it?
Correct me if I'm wrong but we do have the finest independant legal system in the world dont we? Totally free of any outside influence with judgements based only on "justice for all", not looking after the ruling classes and the status quo.
Dont we also have the finest minds running our banking system? Constantly busy ensuring our money is safely and effectively invested on our behalf, they havnt let us down yet people!
And we have the finest politicians too, time after time they have showed us the true meaning of public service. With our representatives keeping a watchfull eye on the situation we can be sure the poorest in this country wont be taken advantage of!
Why the very idea that there could be a ruling class in this country is preposterous. I hardly think that the British people would put up with the existence of a club of people who went to the same universities all getting together behind the scenes and doing each other favours.
Pah.. I think you should all show some respect to our betters, lawyers, politicians and bankers and stop making such a fuss. You do realise how much added work it means for them dont you?
Have any of you tried milking an entire country?
No?
I thought not.

The trouble is, most of what you call 'abuse' is simply people expressing viewpoints which are contrary to the prevailing opinion on here. If you or anyone else can't take that then best you stop using the Internet altogether.0 -

Just goes to show, the real people of this country don't count for anything we ghet done over time after time, and here is another case, we the people show decide the laws of the land, but no a few people with to much money decide for the few, as long as they've the big country home and fancy cars etc, the don't care about the working person, who support the country and keep things going,
when are we going to get a goverment with some back bone, and do what the majority of the country wants,
what a **** take this all is
lol I love these 'their all against me' quotes. Just because the banks won and the customer didn't doesn't mean everyone is against you!
I think the point is that bank charges don't have to be fair but what will probably happen is the costs will still go down as banks now know the customer is more savvy and thus will have to compete for their business!SShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh0 -
Right, so the OFT can't do anything else, but what's stopping us reclaiming them? What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
