Anyone know whether hardship cases are still able to go ahead and reclaim bank charges? I had over £3600 refunded as a hardship case and as soon as the banks won their case this morning - guess what - over £100 applied immediately with more charges!!0

This is absolutely disgraceful.
It shows what a truely S*** country we now live in
You're spot on there actually.
The reason this country's in such a mess is due to people ignoring self responsibility and blaming others for their own problems or ineptitude.

theyre not in the house of lords anymore
its now the supreme court
At the time the case was heard, they were indeed members of the House of Lords....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Ever thought about Anarchism? It's not the chaos many people think it means. We could then make our society the way we wanted it, including having banks the way we wanted them. All we have to do is organise!
Can you imagine the smug look on the faces of all involved in the banking industry today? You can pick them out in a crowd Im sure, from Bonus Buddies right down to the misguided tellers who are in reality nothing more than unwitting pawns.
-All that is left to do now is to abandon the current system altogether -everyone join or form a credit union style facility (Martin?) and leave the old establishment to their own devices.
-I have already withdrawn from 'standard' models in many aspects of my life and feel more in control and 'safer' in many ways. It is a very liberating feeling indeed and one I recommend to you all.
Do yourselves a favour and seriously consider it.0 -

if the bank paid my direct debit then charged me £35 then i wouldnt mind because it would be like a short term loan
but they dont they dont pay anything and get £35 odd for the priiveledge of doing absloutely nothing

The trick is to stop the direct debit and pay in cash-asuming you have it-if you don't you do without-that's how I was brought up....
Not as easily done as said thesedays - many utilities charge a non-direct debit handling fee of a few quid nowadays, something declared illegal in Ireland a couple of years ago, but not in good old Blighty!0 -
So the PM pledges support to MSE for the bank charges and the next thing we know the supreme court rules in favour of the banks? Another great plan & win by the dictatorship which has become the UK since '97. Now if only we'd have all seen a fraction of that money which'd changed hands... :c(0

if that had to include ignorant chavs so be it
i have debts does that make me an ignorant chav
or a middle class hardworking member of society who was involved in an accident and fell upon hard times
