isnt funny the new supreme court is made up of those who dont have to worry about bank charges

Good for them. That's more reasonable.0 -

Why are you here, to brag? Or to take enjoy other people misfortune. Why?
A minute ago you where banging on about bugets, now you are not. I was living to my means. I was bugeting just fine. Then I was wacked with massive charges for one mistake (not checking my vodaphone bill, I know I was fuc*ing dumb to trust they would not sharft me from behind, but they did.) Then it spirals. And thats the problem here. Banks are getting people into massive problems, to make a quick buck.
Millions of people manage their accounts much better than I do. I am still 'banging on' about budgetting, you obviously don't understand that there is more to budgeting than simply having enough money to cover your bills.
You also need to make sure that you reduce the possibility for going overdrawn, by making sure that only essentials are paid for via direct debit, to use cash when shopping so that you don't forget that you have £x still to come out of your account for something you bought last week.
There are plenty of ways to stay within a budget, you just need to have the will to do it. You all seem to crack on that only the rich can balance their budget. This is not true, anyone can provided they follow the following:
1. Only use direct debits for utilities and other essentials.
2. Go PAYG on non essentials
3. Keep an amount of money to one side for emergencies.
4. Before buying luxury goods, think then think again if you really need it.
5. Use all the comparison websites for large purchases.
6. Use cash as much as possible so that you're not tempted to overspend. That 'must have' item is not so easy to buy when you have the actual wad of cash in your hand to pay for it!
7. Ensure you have adequate insurance for life's events.
8. Don't enter into any credit agreements or contracts (such as SKY or mobile phone), if you lose your job you stil have a commitment to these contracts/agreements.
Don't blame the banks for your own bad financial management."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

I sincerely hope that people on this forum have not actually spent money they cannot afford on holidays and luxuries, like i have read, in the belief that they were going to get the charge monies back...0

Well what a surprise, the banks have been let off the hook again!
If I was French I'd be cranking up the tractor now and making for Whitehall.

i am horrified by the decision, but surely we can still appeal to europe, lets face itm if the banks had lost they would have appealed again, come on guys dont let them win this easy there must be somethin that can be done.
The Court has said there are no issues to go to the ECJ, it's in the judgment....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Handing down the unanimous ruling, Lord Phillips, president of the Supreme Court, said: "It may be open to the Office of Fair Trading to assess the charge under other criteria."
What does this exactly mean? Do we still have hope? Is it more hope that we have or confidence?

I think they will still look into this as they have already done so with the Credit Card industry.
It's dead. Forget it BankReclaimRebel.0
