Been an interesting day on the forum, quite at home so spent more time than normal
here. When I posted early ( just after 10am ) that I was pleased with the result , I thought i would be abused and mocked  Pleasantly pleased with having some positive encouragement.

I have noticed those that are screaming loudest , have the lowest post counts/joined very recently.

exactly youre entitled to your opinion as are otheres but you dind go shooutung from the roof tops and blatantly abuse people
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

Have the banks stated they are not going to impose account fees on everyone to run their accounts? Last I heard on the news at lunchtime was a commentator saying they probably won't, but personally I don't believe today's ruling will make any difference to that..?

If the banks were going to lose £2bn of income every year, they would have to get that back somewhere.

  • Sadly this decision has nothing to do with the morality or excessiveness of bank charges.

It simply reinforces the fact that decisions affecting the UK are made by the EU rather than by our own elected representatives and institutions such as the Office Of Fair Trading

That is the REAL reason leave has been refused to appeal to the European Court of Justice.

You should have demanded the money was repaid immediately by the paying bank under the terms of the DD guarantee.

Furthermore you should have told the bank that you wished to make a claim for consequential loss (i,e, bank charges that arose).
Depending on whether the bank or sky were to blame, depends on who would ultimately pay this.
Whosever was to blame, the bank would refund you the consequential losses too...but not immediately. You would have to wait for the outcome of any indemity claim.

I did enquire about this and magically, within a week, my card was swallowed and I have recieved no notification or any statements even though I asked what the hell was going on. It was as if they didn't know there backsides from their elbows.

What is really worrying now is HBOS can send in the debt collectors and I now don't have a leg to stand on due to not having any correspondence from them so it is there word against mine... The courts have already done one on the little man so they will do it again.

I'm calling up CAB tomorrow to get an appointment. The first time I got one, they told me to await the outcome as I would have to make a claim. Now the outcome has been reached, I can see where I stand.

I would like to say this is the only time I have ever gone over drawn. My money now goes into my mums second account which I withdraw straight away and keep at home. That way I know where I am and know that if any of my DD's go out, I can claim they 100% went out early as I have the money still at home... If that makes sense to anyone. My mattress is now my bank and it keeps all my money perfectly safe

Thanks for the reply. For the record everyone i got money back for were happy to give me £200 - £800 for a return of £1000 - £16000. It wasn't just one letter per person, the disabled lady who had over £15000 returned, needed me to get the money from 5 separate banks. Please ask yourself this If someone offered you £10000 of your money back from the bank and asked for £1000 only on a no win/no fee basis, what would you do? My friends are over £140 000 better off and between 30 of them the have given me £7000. To date not one of my friends has asked for my charge back, if this changes i will let you know

OMG! YOU WON'T BE HAPPY THE THE RESULT THEN WILL YOU? NO MORE MONEY FOR YOU TO MAKE OUT OF YOUR FRIENDS. I WONDER IF THE TAX MAN KNOWS ABOUT YOU EXTRA EARNINGS!!
I also helped some friends but i didnt dream of asking for anythink off them for doing so. some FRIEND...

Personally I'd point them in the right direction of doing it for themselves for free...and therefore I'd not be preying on the vulnerable. Do you really charge your friends 20%? YOU make Bankers look good!

The truth is, many of these people would still be getting around to reclaiming if left to do it themselves. Some people are not organised enough or motivated enough to do this sort of thing. Some people procrastinate, others fear authority. I think there's a limit to how much a typical busy person could do for friends in a decent timeframe without the carrot of a monetary reward. There are many things people can do themselves that they instead choose to pay others to do, for example, cleaning.
