Wedding anniversary surprise

Hi all
My 3rd wedding anniversary coming up (14th January). But I saw my orthopaedic consultant a couple of days ago and I am looking at a revision of revision of hip replacement in the next few months. So.....my darling Barry has decided we need another honeymoon/winter-break/trip away and he has arranged for us to go somewhere from Friday, coming back Tuesday. And he won't tell me where - except that I'm going to be ferried door to door, it's not in the UK, it's somewhere we've been before but 'not like this', and the accommodation is a lot better than our first honeymoon, which was a 200-year old country pub in the Cotswolds. And it's not too warm, just take smart casual clothes. He won't give me any more clues.
He's seen a sign which said 'Don't take your wishes to the grave'. Interpretation: Live now and don't put off things you want to do. So he's using his savings. I'm not very happy about this as I think we should both have some savings - after all this little M reg Fiesta will not last forever. But he's done it, he's decided, and I think he's such a darling, what can I say about it? Nothing!
Best wishes to all

Aaah - he sounds a real darling.
Don't worry too much about savings - my grandma always used to say you can't take it with you and she's right. Enjoy your break and get lovely and rested before your op!

Ooops - that reads a little bit sarcastic and it wasn't meant to at all. :-[
Sorry! It was genuinely meant.Mink0 -
What a wonderful thought. You're a very lucky lady, Margaret. Barry sounds like a complete gem. Hi all, and thanks for the kind words. Yes, he really is an absolute darling - but then, I think he appreciates being treated with love and kindness after what he had in 2 previous marriages. He's a man who doesn't ask for a lot, doesn't demand a good housekeeper etc (!!!) but he does appreciate lots of affection in a touchy-feely sort of way - just holding hands means such a lot to him, and at night he falls asleep just like an innocent child, holding my hands against him.
I don't think it's Paris, although France might be a good guess. Reason I don't think Paris (although he knows I'd love to go there) is that he knows I can't walk very far. And all those beautiful old capital cities are a dead loss if you can't walk. Even London is best seen on foot.
But there's a lot of France outside of Paris, and a lot of it is within easy reach!
Must stop guessing, spoil the surprise! And I'll definitely tell all about it when we get back. I'm going for an online numeracy exam at the college I go to for maths (it's part of the Skills for Life scheme) this is on Friday morning, and we're away straight after that, so by noon we'll be well down the road.
Best wishes to all

Awww.....sure you will have a wonderful time...after all...not where you are but who you are with that really counts.
Now where could it be? Amsterdam, Prague
, Bruges
... Isle of Man :-/......
Nice to save.0 -
Hi La Fenice
Well, he did say it's 'somewhere we've been before, but not like this'. So this lets out Prague or the Isle of Man.
And he's refused to be drawn on whether airport or sea ferry. He knows I've been longing to go on Eurostar...but I must stop guessing.
I talked about a romantic weekend away via Eurostar way way back, when we were first in touch with each other but hadn't yet met. But he was skint then, had been redundant more than once and at the end of yet another short-term contract, also he was still in a very difficult marriage with a violent, extravagant and unpredictable woman.
So instead of a romantic weekend away, what we had was 24 hours in a Travelodge in the M1. And the rest is history, as they say!
Best wishes

Venice? Simplon Orient Express?
Whatever...it sounds wonderfully romantic!
Aunty Margaret, I hope you two have a fab time, can't wait to read up about it (the non-blushy bits of coursehehehehehe)
Lots of love
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi Caterina
Yes, I'll tell all about it when we get back. And Barry is sure to take lots of pics and he puts them in a little album with a link so you can all see them.
It will be fantastic, whatever and wherever. Just the idea that he's thought and planned something that I might enjoy....what a gem, what a star. He's promised me a bit of comfort and luxury, also 'take your swimming cozzy, you can always splash around a bit'. I assume this doesn't mean the cold North Sea!!
I'm having some success losing weight too - down to size 18 from 22, I can't be very active but all I've been doing is eating less, and less often. It appears to work!!
Love to all
