Yes will have been paid a commission of circa £150 by the hire company for sending you to them and will receive about £300 if you put in an injury claim.

Like I said speak to a superviser and if your polite they can probably put a stop to the cancellation
  • Can they do this based on information from me...which they already had 13 days ago..? I have been told already that it is procedure and will not be able to be changed. I'm going directly to the customer relations department to complain about this, given that they told me if i hadn't called today it would have been communicated to me in writing following the finalisation of my claim. Surely by cancelling my policy in the middle of my claim they are breaking contract with me. My legal cover is part of my insurance policy so i presume i will lose this too??

…………This is the shocker though......I was informed that because I'd phoned and informed them(today) that my car was written off I have 14 days from today to provide : New MOT, Engineers report, VIC certificate and my new V5C !!!! otherwise they will be cancelling my policy and I will not get a refund. ………
I’m struggling to see how a broker can demand or cancel anything particularly as the insurance company don’t seem to want to cancel the policy (and why would they?)

I think you were just unlucky in that you got a call centre monkey on the dim end of the scale, as others have said talk to a supervisor.

The time scale is ridiculous, I seem to remember a 6 week waiting list last time I took a car for a VIC.
  • Provident said I have to sort it out with claims department at yes insurance....oh and get this.....yes insurance said they cannot contact provident directly, I have to do it!!! it's like a horrible circle...been on phone for roughly 4 hours today and have the biggest headache.

Bossanova, a bit of advice... forget the aggressive attitude.
I know you are not meaning to sound aggressive, but it comes across that way.

As dacouch has said, at least twice, be polite.
Grovel, be nice, ask for help... and you will be more likely to get what you want.

  • Today i spoke to 2 customer advisors form Yes, they both consulted team leaders and refferals departments whilst i waited. still got nowhere...the 14 day thing is looking impossible, especially before settlement, and seems so unfair.
  • Keith & dacouch, I was very polite, and practically begging for them not to cancel on me, i'm only now feeling so powerless that i feel i have to go higher in order to get any sense out of the situation.

As you are only third party I don't really see why your insurance company are involved at all, your insurance policy should just carry on as normal.

Surely your claims handler should only be dealing with the TP company and not making life hard for you. I think I’d ring them and point that out to them or maybe even think about kicking them into touch and dealing with the TP company direct
