My earliest was 1991 I think if I remember correctly... it was a bank though so they were under the old banking ombudsman rules.;)

Now that does light my fire ! Sadly or luckily (depending on your perspective) I have YSB loan papers from 1991 when PPI was compulsory ( or so I believed ) , I am waiting for my SAR to come back from YSB to see what they have on me before I put in my claim. They are proving to be real slippery customers at YSB - mainly through inefficiency it has to be said, I have had conversations with 3 people at my local branch, 2 at Leeds & 2 in Scotland & got different stories each time. It proves the point that Written Communcations are the best way forward.

Hi Newkid - yes I won both of these easily with no hassle using the template letters as a guide. Am now going after a loan from 1990

    finatra
Great to hear the success , especially going such a long way back, most of my banking history in the 90 is with Yorkshire Bank & I find I am having to push all the way to get anywhere with them - which just means I will never let go.
The more recent stuff with A&L has been easy, template letter, phone call, offer, refund- done & dusted in a few weeks.
    I will keep you posted.

Wow, I really didn't realise you could go so far back!!
I took out a loan in 1999 with a company called Beneficial Finance if anyone remembers them! Well I was actually bullied into a loan actually, come to think of it. We had purchased a couple of electrical items from Currys on a 6 month interest free option then the month that was due to end the manger of the local branch of the finance company rang us up offering to re-finance the remainder of the money owed and as it was December with Christmas coming we thought we'd go ahead with it and made an appointment to go see him, as he said it had to be signed for in branch.
Well, when we got there the next day he had a print out of both mine and my partners credit profile with approximate balances, which only mounted to about £6000 at the time, and then told us we could have a loan for the full amount.
Both my partner and I where both 19 at the time, had recently moved into our house together, had a 6 month old baby, I wasn't working, OH was only on an apprenticeship earning about £750 a month back then, so we thought this was a good deal, and being the first time either of us had taken a loan, where innocent and knew no better. (other debt was from CC's and catalogues)
He told us to have the loan because of OH's apprenticeship we had to also take the PPI.

Now for the good bit .....................
    Initial loan - £6850
    PPI - £7280

I forget what the apr was or anything but i do remember we were paying £158.00 a month up until we consolidated and remortgaged with another company in 2003. (which didn't work!!)
I did keep the paperwork up until last year, then had a clear out and shredded (along with others) them, can I still get a copy of this agreement from the companies I have had finance with, and if I can what letter do I send to request it?

    Thanks all
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice!!

Hi Beth a SAR request to your bank would perhaps show the account numbers for these loans - Di will be able to advise better on this & this reply will bump it up for her attention (thanks Di you lovely angel)
Do you know that you can use your age & lack of financial savvy as one of your misselling reasons - my PPi claims handler very nicely put these words into my mouth for me to strengthen my case - they took advantage of your lack of financial knowledge

    Lol, not a problem Finatra.....cheers hun :D:A;)X

Yes a SAR would be useful, a few of my SAR's I received I even received info as from the late 90's, so hopefully it will be the same for you as well.

There is a SAR template on the link below, do post by recorded delivery though, this is your proof of posting and you can also check this out on the Royal Mail Website as well on "tracking".
SAR template here with details as well, hope this helps.;)

Awe thanks hun.......:A, and I would never let you down.....:kisses:.

Yes happy with that cheque from the FSCS today.
Yesterday my hubby was successful with the FOS on his Credit Card PPI, mine was resolved a few months back.
We do have a few more ongoing.
Endeavour personal finance/through the underwriters though with the FOS, as the broker Click dissolved in 2006, could not take it the lender direction/Endeavour, so the FOS have agreed to investigate through the underwriter/insurer.

Have 3 cases actually with Lloyds TSB now as well, all loan ppi.
And 2 of them are already with the FOS, these ones are separate to the above ones.

We did win a Nemo case last year and also Liverpool Victoria.

So a few to go yet.

How are you getting on hun?:A

Ah now that you say - I remember reading about the endevour one - just one left for me Di - from 1990 so not holding my breath - to be quite honest winning the 2 that I did helped me out big time & this will be enough for me. My focus now is in trying to support new people & lending my support to you original guys who have had to learn the hard way & have stuck around to help everyone else out

    Hi hun.;)
Well keep strong on this Finatra, many recently have been successful with 1990 reclaims. Wishing you luck with this and pray that you will win this, afterall you were ripped off and entitled to get all your money back.;)

My biggest win was the Nemo case, of just receiving under £13K back, that was coming up 2 years ago, and its been all go since with the rest of the claims.:j

Well hun your very helpful, supportive and doing a FAB job of helping others, keep up the great work, you should be very proud of yourself, I am very proud of you, well done.:beer:XXX
