Bus Drivers

So Im on a roll tonight. I live in scotland so not sure if this is all over, thought it just happended to me untill I spoke to my work collegues, who are also getting !!!!ed off with it.

So here goes, I live in a area that has 3 buses that go through the city centre, 2 to one point (I will call bus A and B) and 1 to a different part of the city, Bus C. So though buses A, B and C all come from different parts when they reach my point they all head the same direction till the city centre where they go different ways (with me so far). So for example I get bus C as it goes near my work, where bus A & B dont.

So funny enough all 3 buses seem to reach my point at the exact same time, miss them ages to wait. So the other day I was waiting for bus C and woman with pram was also at bus stop, Bus A comes, full, so lady with pram cant get on, my bus, Bus C 2 mins later and on its backside its bus B, now lady wants bus B, but because bus C stops, bus B does what every bus seems to be doing the now and overtakes the bus stop, not giving this lovely lady a chance to stick hand out.

So this comes to my point, why oh why, do bus drivers who see a bus stopped at a bus stop (which can sometimes have 5 different buses on different routes) seem to think that because a bus is stopped that they have a right to fly by without seeing who else is waiting, do they have magic powers that tell the people at bus stop are all getting on that bus. Please bus drives I would love to know why you seem to forget what your job is. TO STOP AT BUS STOPS.

It is now coming to xmas season when town is crazy buses are busy and I know its going take twice as long to come home, So I ask bus drivers to stop for a minute and look at where you are meant to stop.

This is just a vent. Just fed up with this.

Doesn't happen to me, but I always worry about it happening. The bus I get to work is the 2, and the stop is served by the more regular service 1. Luckily the road is quite long and straight so I can see if there's a 2 behind and run forward to catch it before it goes past.

I also notice while on the bus that it seems more obvious than you might think that people aren't getting the bus that's stopped.

I totally know where you coming from OP its so annoying.

Im in a similar situation where I catch my bus theres loads of different services stop at one bus stop so bus A comes at the same time as bus B C D & E. I want bus C then the driver will just over take without stopping to check if any one wants to get on.

It really gets my back up it really does

That's happened to me before, so what I tend to do is, if the wrong bus stops at my stop, I run beyond it and keep an eye out for the next bus, then wave like a loon if i see the next bus.

I used to have to get a bus to a shopping centre, and instead of getting the main bus i waited 2 mins longer for the park and ride bus since it went a bit closer and cost the same. the driver always used to get mad that he had to stop for me. i was only 16 so never said anything, he wouldnt be that lucky if he did it now lol

I am with you on this one, but I just hate lots of other things about buses too ! lol. The sooner I learn to drive and get a car the better! :)

And if these first buses go on strike ever again down here I will just go mental! lol

I think buses aswell think they are the rulers of the road. In car with OH the other day and a car was double parked on the left, blocking the bus, so the bus just pulls over to the right, where we were, without even checking to see if it was clear, nearly giving me a heart attack as it was my side (two lanes)

And dont start me on the amount of times they run red lights.
  • Incidentally notice to bus and taxi drivers, those funny orangey lights on the external corners of your vehicle are called indicators, they are or should be connected to the coat hanger on your steering column, try using them you might be surprised :D

  • Always happens round here, but it doesn't really matter because all but one of the routes terminates in the Town Centre (where the bus is headed for when this happens)

Same goes to car drivers - stop being bum holes and use the damned things: it is a legal requirement of the Highway Code :)
