This is a new promotion available on Friday of this week only (27th November).
The one you linked to is similar, but for a week over the Christmas and New Year period (25th Dec - 1st Jan).
Vodafone change the offer every Friday - last week it was free International texts:

The important bit to note from the t&c: "The Promotion is only available for browsing WAP sites on your mobile". I'm sure a lot of people are going to get caught out by this...0

I never saw that, i don't think i've used a WAP site since getting mobile internet. i just use normal sites.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

'WAP sites' is an unfortunate phrase that doesn't really mean anything anymore. WML (WAP equivalent of HTML) has long since been dead. What I suspect Vodafone actually meant is all traffic that passes through their WAP gateway.
Make sure your phone's browser uses the settings from the following page on the left for WAP (not the settings on the right for Email/Web):
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html#vodaVodafone GPRS settings (WAP) / Vodafone Live!:
Homepage: http://live.vodafone.com
Access Point (Contract): wap.vodafone.co.uk
Access Point (PAYG): pp.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Network type: Ipv4
Security: Off
Gateway (IP) address: 212.183.137.012
Port number: 8799
On a PC, using a mobile dongle or a tethered phone (connected via USB cable or Bluetooth) do not usually use these settings by default.
For example, here are just a few of the mobile websites that will work through Vodafone's WAP gateway (using the settings above):
http://m.bbc.co.uk
http://m.google.com
http://m.gmail.com
http://m.yahoo.com
http://m.yahoo.com/mail
http://m.bing.com
http://m.mail.live.com
http://m.facebook.com
http://m.twitter.com
http://m.youtube.com
http://m.yell.com
Hope that helps to clarify things a little. The real test on Friday will be to check your balance before connecting, and see if it decreases after browsing to a mobile website of your choice
