    I dont understand

if the agreeent was £50 she gets to keep £20? and the rest goes...? does the father have to show any proof of sending the money each month? or does the funds have to go through a 3rd party?
If she was to get £50 per week then her Income support would be reduced by £30 per week as she is allowed to keep the first £20 without it affecting her Income support. Always keep a paper trail of any payments and make sure they have something along the lines of child maintenance for x child and get her to sign this also.

Nothing Income support can do, they may ask her if she gets child support and all she has to say is yes I get x amount or no I don't get anything.

    Ok...

so it boils down to the mother declaring she has an agreement. And that is that? do they ask if the father is working? would she lose any sort of benefits by going down this route?

Reason i ask all the Q is because i will want to pay my share on the baby but not direct to the mother, i will buy what it needs myself. Without passing any money through anyones hands.

Be very careful! She can still put in a claim for child support via the csa and although you will be buying things the csa will not class this as child support.

They don't ask about the father at all.

    Okey dokey

If they dont ask about the father how do they work out if she is allowed to claim any type of benefits?

They will ask if she has a partner if she is going to claim benefits and if she has no partner and a child then she will be classed as a single parent.

regardless if the father works or not?

so with my understanding you can only come into problems if both parents are locked in arguements?

nothing else can be effected if both parties are seperated but have an agreement together that both are happy with?

    child benefit im talking about...
