Not able to set specific pages as homepage

Since the site was updated I can't set the Competitions page as my home page - which I used to do. Any ideas why not.
Also again, why is the daily email so intermittant from the competition page? I get every thing else that I am subscibed to without fail at whatever I sent it at so can't be cookies etc not allowed.
