Free tech support with Waitrose - same company as Madasafish

I'm looking at changing ISP from Wanadoo to Madasafish, and I found out that Waitrose broadband is provided by the same company as Madasafish. You don't get a free domain name with Waitrose, and it doesn't mention a static IP address, but all their profits are given to charity and you get something called "Webminder", a website blocking service.

If you sign up with Waitrose you get free technical support according to their website: http://www.waitrose.com/web_access/8mbbroadband/waitrosebroadband/index.asp Madasafish's tech support is an 0870 number.

Waitrose is £18.99 a month (more expensive than Madasafish), but if you are switching from another broadband ISP and keep your existing router, you get 3 months free (if you use their router, it's 2 months free): http://www.waitrose.com/web_access/8mbbroadband/waitrosebroadband/switchwaitrosebroadband/index.asp

To compare:

Waitrose - 3 mths free then £18.99 per month for 9 months = £170.91

Madasafish - 6 months @ £10.99 then 6 months @ £16.99 = £167.88

So if you can get 3 months free then Waitrose is £3.03 dearer than Madasafish over the 12 months contract, but you get free tech support.

Sorry this post is so long-wided but wanted to explain it properly! Thought it might be of use to somebody who is switching ISPs and might need to use technical support a lot.

Yes, I know that but I thought it might still be of use, if you can't connect to the internet for any reason you wouldn't be able to contact Samara via this site. Some people prefer to speak to a person on the phone, that's why I thought it was worth posting it.

  • Another difference between Waitrose and Madasafish is that Madasafish has a referral program in place. If you're the type of person who likes to participate in referral programs, then Madasafish would be the one to go for - but if free calls to tech support appeal to you then I would say Waitrose.

    Kind regards,
