i think your mum is either referring to distance selling regs (online or phone sales)
or doorstep selling regs (your home, your work trade fairs)
if it took place at the businesses "normal" place of trade then you have no get out
after all contracts are by definition legally binding
they wouldnt be contracts if they could all be broken at whim would they?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Are you sure it says nothing about cooling off periods.
Ring them tomorrow and ask, if they say no then ring the trading standards
up to see if they can do this.
Regardsmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I still think that, even if there is no cooling off period, there blumming well should be.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I still think that, even if there is no cooling off period, there blumming well should be.
why?
if the customer makes the effort to go intot he store and take out a contract, why on earth should a business be responsible for not only losing that business but having huge admin costs and staffing costs.
are you the type of person who believes its their right to a refund in a store no matter what? thats a pretty similar situation imoBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

so it was take out at the gym itself?
id suggest selling on the membership to a friend who will make more use of it. if you can that isBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Why? How long? What happens when you get a cooling off period of, for example, 30 days on everything you buy wherever you buy it from then feel a burning need to return a tin of beans 31 days after the purchase date? Would you accept that or suddenly decide that the cooling off period "blumming well" should be 31 days?
I think that while we expect businesses to be responsible for how they act when selling stuff to us that sooner or later perhaps we need to be more responsible for our actions as buyers too.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

wellm to be frank I will make use of it, especially in light of what im paying i'll bloody make sure I am! lol However its just the fact i think ive been ripped off, but ive made my bed and should lie in it. £70 is a lot per month, but i CAN afford, it, just have to cut down the takeaways and going out!!!0 -

Ive just had a gander at my contract and it says my membership starting date is the 30/11/09- even though i signed it yesterday, she said she'd start it next week, SO Im thinking I have a bit of a right here to say- look, it doesn't start next week, im not hapy, please cancel
I'm booking in to see the general manager tomorrow anyway and getting my assertive face on, and pulling the 'you're human too' card! Think I have a good chance?!0
