Who lets taxis out?

NoAnd I hate them just pulling up outside a residential house and blowing their horns for attention because they are just a bunch of lazy idle waste of spaces who will not get out of their death traps to knock on a door. They have no regard for the kids who have just got to sleep.
I love clocking who they are and having them run around all night to pubs on the hillside to pick up Mr Smith and Mr Jones - Bliss
I actually don't think they are allowed to do that. Take their cabbie number and report them to the council. They get a rollicking for it. (So I've heard).Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:0 -

You should try driving one, you find taxi drivers don't cut you upFelinePrincess wrote: »The only car I would avoid letting in is them big 4x4s!

You MUST NOT use your horn:-
When stationary on the road.
or
When driving in a built up area between 2330 and 0700
except when another road user causes a danger.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

Yes, but taxi drivers do not believe that the law applies to them. It is obvious from their driving styles and habits and attitudes.0 -
Like with people in all jobs you will get good taxi drivers and bad taxi drivers, can't tar them all with the same brush.
I have a bias opinion as my hubby is a taxi driver, and the stories he tells about other drivers and passengers, real eye opener.
He has has fake and foreign money passed to him, and he would never pass onto a passenger.0 -

I'd just like to say at this point that both myself and my OH never behaved like that when working. Always used to get out and chap the door, obeyed the speed limits etc. Maybe that's why I didn't stick it for longYes, but taxi drivers do not believe that the law applies to them. The only rule that was broken would possibly be the seatbelt rule, and that was due to the risk of a passenger grabbing the belt and pinning you in the car.
As is often the case, you get good and bad in every profession. But it still costs nothing to be a courteous driver.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

I tend to always let drivers of British marques out when it is safe to do so, never let drivers of german marques out and everyone else depends if it is safe and convenient.
Prejudiced against German car drivers, Yep! You can flame me for it all you want, it won't change me.0 -
NoWe're talking about the people who (in my area) are quite happy to attempt a U-turn across a 4 lane city-centre road regularly in rush hour? The ones who stop anywhere, ANYWHERE they like, and think that they have an excuse (no, picking someone up isn't an excuse!). The people who will drive through you when in a rush, but also creep away from the lights and get into top gear as fast as possible to save diesel? And don't even bother expecting them to indicate....
As always I do see exceptions to the rule, and taxis are often good at letting other people out WITHOUT disrupting the flow of traffic. (I was stuck behind a woman today who realised at the very last minute that she could maybe let someone out and caused everyone behind to stop when completely unnecessary!).
I'm also less likely to let vans, MPVs and big 4x4s out as they obstruct your view, which has an adverse effect on your driving.
It says in the highway code that you should let buses out BTW so you're kindof driving badly if you don't.0
