Hi
never posted before but wanted to warn others to check there credit card statement
carefully. I always pay my credit card (Asda) in full every month and never incur charges. In last months statement on the 24th oct 2009 an interest charge apeared of £9.27. upon phoning customer services i was told an error had occured over a lot of peoples statements and the charge was going to be refunded. I decided to check my statement online today and have realised that i have not been refunded this inrerest charge. I can sort this out but it occured to me that anyone paying interest may not notice this "extra" charge. Thus netting the company some extra money. So please check your statements just in case

had a reply to day and I quote
"Please accept my apologies for any interest applied to your account, we had encountered an IT issue which affected 30,000 ASDA customers having interest applied to there accounts in error."
Ive got my refund but it took 2 phone calls and email and 28 days ! to sort out.0 -
Hi Fruitree.
Have had same problem here. £0.76 in charges applied in October and I also pay in full every month. You are fortunate to have had yours sorted! Various emails and phone calls so far to no avail. Lots of apologies and promises of a refund (they now say a refund will be made in December, after earlier promising one in November).
It's not a great amount but it's the principle. I think I'll send the card back to them, after receiving my money off vouchers any day now of course!0 -
Have'nt had any charges but just when you mentioned the vouchers I wondered if you could answer something for me.
For the past five weeks my voucher total has remained the same despite spending and paying off over 2k.
Is it usual for no points to be awarded for this period ( nearing payout time).
I did e-mail but as yet not had an answer.0 -
Hi
Thanks for replying to my post. I am also in the dark as to the vouchers. I have never been able to find any info any where on how they work out your points. Some months i would get nothing, even though I spend on average £1000 per month. Ive always thought that because I pay off in full every month that they try every trick to not give me points. Got my vouchers today £43. How does that compare to others ?0 -

Mine came around 3 weeks ago - £11. I don't spend a lot on that card though.
There's 2 different types of Asda card, an old one that gives 1p per litre discount on fuel (no longer available as far as I know) and the newer one which gives more reward points on certain transactions but no discount on fuel.
If you have the older one like I do then I think the points work as follows (I may be wrong - it's been a while since I last looked as it's not my main card):
Points accrued per transaction, not on monthly spend. Minimum transaction amount is £4 which earns 2 points, then each further £2 spent earns 1 more point.
For example:
£3.97 = 0 points.
£4.01 = 2 points.
£7.24 = 3 points.
100 points = £1 voucher. Points can only be earned on the first £12,000 spent per year. This is a running total (so a £3.97 spend earns no points but counts towards that £12k limit). Therefore, the maximum you can earn in vouchers per year is £60. However, you're extremely unlikely to get anywhere near that as in the real world you won't be spending in exactly £4/£2 increments.
If you have the other type of Asda card, then I have no idea. The info on how points are accrued will be in the terms and conditions - the above info is what I remember reading about when they sent me new terms and conditions for the card several months ago.0 -
Hi Benf90
Thanks for reply that’s the clearest explanationI’ve had on points so far.
I’ve had my card for a few years, originally to get petrol discount but as you rightly said that’s gone down now. We now go to Tesco for petrol as the points work out better than Adsa. (Always go for cheapest petrol prices first though)
I quite pleased with my £43 pound then as £43 out of a possible £60 is not bad.
I still have my original terms and conditions all it says about points is to look at website for further details. I am registered for online account checking and I couldn’t find anything about points on their website at all. So thanks again fruitree0 -
I cannot even get on to the asda online website all i get is this error message. Been trying all day. Sorry, we are experiencing some temporary service difficulties. Been like that since 10-30 this morning. Is anyone else able too get on ok??0

This is very interesting. A year or so ago I closed my Abbey (Santander) card because they did exactly this, charging interest 'by accident' even though I pay it off in full each month. I wrote to them complaining as it took 3 months to sort out and several phone calls and unfulfilled promises - and I also pointed out what you said, that people who didn't pay off in full wouldn't even notice so would never get their money back, but had no reply to that point.
Now once may be an accident, or an IT error - but twice??0 -
just tried for you and im getting the same message. fruitree
it about 5.30pm0 -
hi smartpicture
Yes I agree with you. Why delay in refunding the money? All so this is the second time it has happened to me (prob a year ago) id forgotten until you mentioned it.
