Aldi/Tevion problems after digital switchover

We receive Freeview from Winter Hill and the Digital changeover began on Nov 5.
The main TV is a Panasonic and still works fine.

We also have an Aldi/Tevion TV and an Aldi/Tevion set top box. Since the changeover they both have identical problems and are prone to freezing or going very jerky when changing channels.

It usually requires a switch off and on to get it going again, I have tried doing a 'software update' from the menu but there is nothing available.

Anyone else in the Winter Hill area with problems since Nov 5, especially on Aldi Tevion digital receivers?

Yes - I can get all the channels in all the right places.

It is when changing channels it goes funny. It fails nearly every time when using the channel up/down buttons but also freezes when selecting a channel directly by inputting the number on the remote, but not as often.

I strongly suspect that there is a problem with the Tevion receivers but I wonder if it is widespread enough for it to be known about at Aldi and be able to complain directly to the store.

I can't believe that I was unlucky enough to get 2 products with identical 'faults' - it nust be a generic problem.

Yes, we are also having problems with our Tevion since the retune. We get our signal from Winter Hill also. Not only does it do the freezing thing but it will now not pick up anything other than BBC channels.

My dad gets his signal from winter hill and all BBC channels are awful every other channel is perfect. When he went to the shop he bought the tv from they said alot of people had been complaining about this and it should be sorted by 12th December ? .

I've had BBC problems on and off with two Tevion freeview boxes I've had but it has got much worse since the switchover and I'm get problems with all channels 'hanging' and breaking up now.

Anyone else had this problem? I can practically see Winter Hill from my house. However, the retune has left me with BBC Wales! This isn't very useful in the mornings for the local travel and weather!

Forgot to mention, recently replaced rooftop aerial (very firmly pointing to Winter Hill) providing signal and no similar problem (ie BBC Wales) on Freeview TV in sitting room.

Some Tevion boxes can't cope with changes that were made to the Freeview platform last year - and I think some models that Aldi sell don't have the digital tick mark so also won't work properly.

Take a note of the model numbers and give the digital uk helpline a ring on 08456 50 50 50 - they have a list of products that are affected by the changes.

Posting here prompted me to do some searching and apparently my Wales problem is not uncommon with a few brands of freeview box. BBC North West is lurking up near 800. Apparently a manual retune is necessary to restore it to its original position. However, I think the Tevion box might end up in the bin!
