Plastering & painting quote

Hi! I asked for a quote from a local builder (recommended by one of my friends) for replastering my lounge walls & celing. I have measured the walls and ceiling (subtracted windows, doors, etc.) and it is around 90sq.mm.
The quote is as below:
Remove Wall Papers : 400
lay multifinish (90 sq.mm): 800
paint wall & ceiling: 700

The above quote is for labour only. All material will be separate.

i live in greater london (harrow) area.

Please can some provide comment on the quote? I will be greatful.

wallpaper removal, is far too overpriced. as a plasterer i dont think a wallpaper removal guy will get 6 days to remove a living room
You can try and do yourself..steamer =25 quid.

plastering about 800 -900 materials included
    painting roughly that much

Ill do your plastering for you for £450 if you still need it doing?

should tell you im 3 months in to my plastering course however have taken to it like a duck to water infact i have done over 30 jobs so far for friends, family and a few private jobs. cant charge full price as i dont have my quals yet so charging around half price of a plasterer so i can gain more experience.

in case you wondering i have had no complaints and im re skimming my whole house and trust me is has to be perfect otherwise my wife will not be happy:rotfl:

I am not a builder but a decorator so I can only give you my opinion on the painting price.
If its just as you say ceiling and walls, then I think its far too much.
Same applies to the stripping, I do a lot stripping in my jobs, and shouldnt take longer than 1- 2 days, depending on how many layers.

I paint new plaster quite a lot in my jobs, and I know how long it takes, I daresay there will be some making good, ( yes, even on new plaster) lol, but its still far too much.

If your interested give me a pm, and I will come and give you a quote, I dont live that far from you, but I would prefer when plastering has been done, but even so its not a problem, but I can guarantee you my price would be a good bit less than £700. :)

    £700 to paint a 90sqm room?

    LOL

I've just painted my house, so by these figures, Ive saved about £5k labour, right?

I wouldn't pay anyone above minimum wage for painting. So about £50 a day. As a result, I do DIY paiting, with perfect results.

Skimming should be £400-£600, but worth paying for a good plasterer, because it a real trade; you cant just learn it overnight - like decorating.

    £400 for stripping wallpaper? Seriously?
