i've got a cheap one.. £29 from B&Q and it does it's job.. I'm going to build a proper one though, £15 for the grill and that from Argos and just need bricks and cement.. but go for the best you can afford.

    Hi,
Has anyone bought the eldorado 2 gas BBQ from aldi @ 49.99?
Mine is still in the box and my Boots one has been delivered. Not sure which to keep. The eldorado has 2 burners compared to the Boots Colarado only having one. The eldorado looks sturdier but the colorado grill area looks bigger.
If you are still with me....what I would like to know is, if you have an eldorado can you tell me what size grill it has has it doesn't say on the box. I don't want to open it as I might be returning it.
But my gut instinct says keep the sturdier 2 burner Aldi
    Thanks anyone
    S

I am accused of being a braii snob. I tend to use either a Weber One Touch 57cm whichg is great for doing roasts etc. For normal use I tend to just use wood with a metal plate I had made by the local blacklsmith (I normally just do that on the ground...I need to build one!!)

As for disposable ones I have found that they cook far too hot and if you wait too long there is no heat left.

For cooking roasts I reckon briquettes are best (last longer) but if using charcoal over direct heat lump wood is faster to get going . If I have plenty time I use logs and build a fire then transfer coals over to another are to cook on.

Cheapest place to get Briquettes is normally Aldi or Lidl.

Best lighting medium is firelighters and never that fluid stuff!!

One of the best things to cook is steak slivers as a starter, buy a nice piece of rump steak about an inch thick cook to desired state and then thinly cut into slivers on a wooden board with a pinch of salt......that is lekker!!! :)

    you're having a bubble aren't you?

Best stuff is the clear fluid from BP garages, squirt some on, stack the charcoal in a heap, squirt some more on, leave it half an hour and off you go... easiest thing ever.

Saw in my local Argos today a large trolley BBQ with shelves down from £19.99 to £14.99. Catalogue number 345/4880 page 37.

seems to be £19.99 on the website.

Anyway, Woolworths, Aldi, Lidl, Home Bargains and Argos all have cheap ones less than £20 great for starters like me :)

The local No Frills store even had a trolley one for £4.99 today... loads in stock...but i decided to go for the Argos one for £14.99 - catalogue number 345/4866

I got my charcoal from No Frills for £3.99 and they were also doing some cheap barbeque utensils for less than a quid for a set of three - great if your barbie doesnt come with its own set.

Add some nice bamboo skewers and youre in for a great weekend :T

We have a gas BBQ and I love it, it means we can eat outside at very short notice whenever the weather is favourable.

yeah they're quite good, but I tried one a couple of years ago, and didnt quite get the quality of food out of it as I expected. Still, at less than £2 each you cant complain, especially if out camping or if you're just a 'once a year' barbie man....

so where do people get their charcoal from? I see Argos are doing a 4 x 1Kg pack for £4.99 which seems to be the cheapest

    Hate that firelighter fluid stuff!!!!
It's far too easy to pick up the bottle and squirt it over (surprisingly) hot coals - then just watch as it ignites sending an arc of flames shooting up to your sleeve! Nasty.
