Cheap BBQ...?

Hello,

In order to take advantage of the fantastic weather of late, I am thinking of getting a BBQ.

Has anyone seen any good deals about (preferably instore) and is there anything I should be looking for, especially?
All I seem to know about these contraptions is that they cook food (in the right hands..! ;)) and it tastes lush!! :p

I know you can get those disposable ones but I am looking for something a bit more permanent, but not too expensive (of course!! :D)

Is B&Q or Argos likely to be the best for this sort of thing...?

Thanks.

Lidl had a couple in. Might be worth comparing specification/price with Argos.
  • Was thinking of getting one myself. Went to BandQ last night but they were quite expensive. Think Argos have some in their summer sale.
Is it better to go for a gas one or a charcoal one? I doubt we'll use it very often Do you have to buy a gas bottle? Where from?

I do know that for the gas ones you have to buy a gas bottle. My old man got one from Homebase and had to fill out some form of sorts to prove that you're not going to use it as a weapon or something like that...!

Well, I think it was to make sure you are 'reasonably competent' to use it. You also have to take the bottle back when it's empty.
    No idea how much tho.

I am more looking for a charcoal one. I'll also be looking to use it occasionally and I don't think the gas route would be cost effective in the short run.

I jus looked at the argos site. There seems to be one for £20 that's quite good, I think , here: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3455054.htm

Is this an ok bbq, d'ya think?

Aldi had some cheap ones, also charcoal at £1.99 a bag (5kg) which is cheap.

I just bought the Smoker BBQ from Argos for £20. Pretty good. Nice big cooking area, and seems quite solid. Lid hinges maybe slightly flimsy though, time will tell.

    Thanks gazbert.

But aren't smokers different to BBQs? In that they smoke and not barbeque!?
    ;)
Haha! I'm not trying to be funny with you, but thanks for the alternative suggestionj I did see this smoker on the Argos website and I think its only about £20 too, so I suppose if I cannot decide on any BBQ I'll get one of these.

    Pukka.
Still, if anyone has seen a bargain, please let me know?

I'm off to Aldi's as there's one in my street! Must_dash..! :rotfl:

Try the co-op... they had some of those 3 legged jobbies for about a tenner. They aren't the most stylish, but they do the job pretty well.

    Jus come back from Aldi's...

There are two charcoal BBQs in my local one but they look a little 'flimsy', although decently priced at £4.99 - £9.99.

But is that a decent price for a BBQ or a total money waster?
Anyone got one from there that can comment on?

Oh, and the charcoal they had at this one (Roath, Cardiff) was £3.99 for 4x1kg. Couldn't see the ones you were on about, must_dash. You'd better go back n get those ones, then! Found yrself a bargain!!

Last call for any comments and/or suggestions...?

I'm looking for a bbq too but can't decide if I should go for gas or coal. And also whether to invest in one of those £150 beauties (problem - I'm a bit broke) or to just get a £10 basic jobbie.

Saw a nice and relatively cheap one on the focus website but delivery is 5 quid and will take about 3 working days. The good weather may be gone by then!

Well yenners, there's a Focus jus down the road me me, as it happens!!
However, the link you posted says on it "Web Special Price Only!" so I might not get the deal in store.

But to be honest, I didn't even think of them (Focus, that is!)!
I'll pop in and have a look tho.

I also know what you mean about what one to buy... £150 one would be nice but isn't the food just the same off a £10 one...?

    Hmmmm.
    Thanks though! :)
