O'h My God, It's just Soooooo........... not fair!

My daughter-in-law had her 3rd baby in 3 years, just 6 months ago and is looking like some beautiful slim 'got it all' look going on, I had my last child 21 yrs ago, and have never been able to get back to my original figure! they will be spending xmas with us and I feel 50, (will be very very soon) fat and frumpy, on earth am I going to cope with that????

I dont think Im that overweight, but I try really really hard with what I eat etc............... and I still cant match my super (love her to bits), daughter in law.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

She's probably got an overactive thyroid. Those things are ace at getting rid of the baby weight.

shoving a double pram with 3 bags of shopping up big hills got me back down to a below pregnancy weight and from a size 14 back down to an 8.

What about offering to babysit the first 2 grandchildren for a weekend, you will lose weight and a bit of sanity as well x

And anyway what's wrong with a cuddly nan xxxx I am nearing that age and I know I will never be scrawny again, yes scrawny is what I call anyone now thats slimmer than me ha ha x

As you get older your basic metabolic rate will drop dramatically and unless you exercise a lot you will probably (sadly) be eating more than you are burning off...

You can use this to work out your basic daily calorie needs if you want...or you can just accept that shes young and run off her feet with 3 children - she most likely envys you remember

I assume your daughter in law is much younger than you? WHy are you trying to match her? Is it a competition? Can;t you just be happy for her that she has got her figure back?

If she is anythign like me, she was fit while pregnant and genetically predisposed to popping back into shape (I've only had one though).

You sound so jealous which is not nice when it's your DiL.

Why not have a few pampering treatments done so you feel at your very best, and stop comparing yourself to her.

I have to say, it sounds to me like you are still competing with her for your son's affections, which is a bit sinister IMo.
