Yesterday I went online to avivas site to get a building insurance quote.
I made it very clear and ticked all boxes that I did not want any marketing stuff from them...
Just now I received a text message from them telling me about their Health Insurance offer!!!
This made me really angry!! I tried to reply with "STOP" to but they didn't leave a reply number, it simply says "From Aviva" so I can't reply to it!
What can I do to stop these messages, something tells me I will get more.
This is really bad practice from Aviva and is a royal pain in the backside!

Complain that you did not agree to marketing material and want your number removed with immediate affect, if they refuse complain to the ICO - http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspxAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

I am trying to find out what is going on, and how this happened. I'll get back to you asap.

Hi Cheesedoodles again
I've just spoken to my colleagues in healthcare marketing, she said that the data for this text message didn't come from your quote yesterday, but from over the summer, another transaction.
There is a freephone number you can call to be removed for the future it is 0800 424242 and they will just need to take a few details.
I hope this is ok, if you need anything further please feel free to email me - rebecca.sibley@aviva.co.uk
Thanks

Hi Becca,
First of all. Many thanks for taking time to answer. It's good to know that representatives of various companies are keeping a look out for customer concerns on MSE and other webstires.
I can't remember having done any quotes with Aviva before, so I can then only assume that my number has been passed on from a third party at some point in time. Although I always ensure I tick the right boxes (or not tick) when they as about marketing I am fully aware that not all companies comply. Or it could be that I at one point overlooked some small print.
It was perhaps just a coincidence that I asked for a buildings insurance quote and then subsequently got a marketing text the next day. The last thing I want is to receive daily texts from companies advertising their products. Personally, I'm not sure how effective these texts are. I would think they deter people more than encourage them to buy the products.
I've already sent a email to Aviva so I'll wait to see what they reply with, if I haven't heard anything I'll phone the number I gave you.
Thanks again.0 -
