  • ok thanks, will keep trying :)
  • It sounds like you are already reinstalling windows over a corrupt installation. I would be looking at connecting the hard drive to another PC (in place of the existing CD/DVD drive if it is the same connection type - start up the other PC and your old drive should show under my computer. Then transfer the data across that you need. Be sure to have an up to date antivirus installed on the other PC first! Good Luck!
  • I retryed the repair and left it over night but still frozen on 39 minutes installing windows so seems like i have to go for clean install is that correct?

A clean reinstall will lose you all your data. So you need to use a USB hard drive caddy on another PC and try and recover your data. Then you could try a clean reinstall.
If that fails then the odds are that you need a new hard drive.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks macman and all for your advice much appreciated :)

Change the resolution to 640x480 and lowest refresh rate, then make sure the correct video drivers are installed - see device manager
