SKY won't let me change account holder

I wonder if anybody could help me with the following problem.

We wanted to upgrade our SKY package but to do that we need to change the account holder. However the account is in my boyfriends ex-wifes name they got divorced 4 years ago and she is now living somewhere in Australia and we dont know how to contact her not that we would even want to.

Although the bill is being paid out of our bank account they will not change the account holder name and we cannot take out a new package at the house.

We are between a rock and a hard place. What can we do? SKY does not want to help us at all. THey keep saying it is data protection but surely if the bill is coming out of our bank account then we should be able to be the primary account holder.

Nothing, unless you can get a letter from her or he has been added to her account as a second person & knows all her details, then Sky will be unable to do anything. It's the Data Protection Act & Sky take this very seriously. It is not Sky does not want to help,it's the law preventing them from helping.
I used to work for Sky so I know this as fact & I know someone who was sacked for disregarding the DPA.

Why not? The person who subscribed has moved out, so why are you paying her bills? Shouldn't you be returning any mail as "gone away" so it lapses, and then starting a brand new contract of your own?

If you know her detaisl you could simply call up and preted to be her (I know it's not legal) and say you want to cancel. Then sign up in your name as anew customer once it's cancelled?
Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......
  • just cancel the dd and send the letters marked gone away.

as far as im concerned, shes liable as the account is in her name, not yours

then once shes marked as move away, re apply in ur own names x
