Can I get out of 3 early?

I signed up with 3 in november for 12 months but am getting increasingly unhappy with the service and value.
I have just dropped from £35 video talk and text 750 to £25 video talk and text 400 (I think). I never use video minutes, i use about 250/300 texts a month and around 200 mins.
The cheaper tariff really doesn't meet my needs but I thought, maybe wrongly?, that any penalty for leaving early would be related to the number of months left x cost of monthly tariff.

If I try to end my contract early what sort of premium can i be expected to pay?
Also if I do end up paying to leave early could I still port my number at that time to another network or am I just going to have to bite the bullett and put up with it til November?

Cheers

Your correct with the fact you will be laible to pay the tariff rate until the contract ends, so your choice is to drop to the lowest tariff and use the phone for that period or cough up and pay in one go for the outstanding contract (hence the word contract - you agree to certain terms for a certain period and if you decide to not stick to the contract you are liable to the terms...in this case 12 months of paying at the tariff you choose)

I'd assume if you pay up to end early you can port the number...but if you have to pay for whatever tariff your on for the remainder of the contract I'd do as you have already mentioned...bite the bullet. You could always see if a very good friend would take it over...and I say very good friend because if they were to decide not to pay you (or from their own bank acount if you transfer the direct debit) you would still be liable

    Thank you.

Is pretty much as I thought but was worth asking just in case there was some secret way out that I didn't know of!

Will just hang on til november....

The only other way, is to hope they update their T&C which then gives you the option to cancel. A lot of people did this back in (I think) October last year
