Peer Pressure!

I think that those of you with children have a much harder job because peer pressure is rife in Britain. I go at my own pace and if I can't afford something I don't have it. Once you say that to your friends a couple of times, it's amazing how many agree and say that they can't afford it either. The difference is that they flash the plastic. since I've stopped doing that life is so much better."Life's too short to stuff a mushroom" - Shirley Conran...she wasn't an Old Styler then, was she? :rotfl:0

The thing is that it does catch up with people sooner or later. Went to visit an old college friend the other week who whilst we were studying used to jet off to New York twice a year on shopping sprees and eat out in restaurants three times a week and buying designer clothes, and couldn't understand why more people weren't "taking advantage of the best years of their lives" as she put it- she's now living in a tiny bedsit and having to sell all those clothes for a fraction of the price she bought them at just to keep a step ahead of the bailiffs. I do feel sorry for her, after all, we were young and naive, and its not like I haven't done stupid things with money in the past: I'm pretty sure my overdraft when I finished college would've been half the size if only I hadn't insisted on taking up smoking- feel really dumb about that, even having been fag-free for 2 years. It just goes to show that you can't avoid paying for things sooner or later."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,
