Paid in euros. Urgent help needed.

Please help. My husband recently started a new job with a dutch company and is paid in euros directly into a Barclays bank account. When I checked the bank balance we seem to have lost about 20% of his wage in currency conversion charges.
He is due to be paid again this week so I need to sort something out quickly.
Does anyone know the best account to have euros paid into?
Thank you for your help.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

Speak to Barclays. They may offer a euro account. Then you could use a currency exchange trader to convert to pounds."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

No worries. Barclays.es offered me business rate exchange for £ to € with no charges. Perhaps they may offer you something similar in reverse."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

With Halifax's Reward current account, there's no charge for Euro payments into your account (provided the sterling equivalent is no more than £8000).

Ringing Barclays is difficult. After pushing lots of buttons I eventually spoke to a lady who put me through to an answering machine.

Good Luck- they are the worse bank to even consider for UK banking, let alone foreign banking! May be free, but why?? (cos they are !!!!!!) :rotfl: :rotfl:

The opinion of someone who deliberately lied to Halifax in order to get a CIFAS (fraud) marker put against his name may need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
If you deal with your account fairly, and don't feel the need to lie to them, then I'm sure you'll find that you have no problems with Halifax.0 -

LOL, I think you'll find I know a little more about banks etc than you may think! My opinion is actually justified by facts - not opinion. Want me to strip your posts and pick little bits to be critical over?
I done this deliberately, it has no affect on my opinion of them as a bank. Compare HBOS to Citi is a non starter though!
Thanks all the same - ! :j
p.s. to quote my reasoning for the cifas entry (which I notice you forget to add!):Yes, I did deliberately lie in order to get some cifas entries, the only way to learn the system is to play the system and a cifas only lasts 13mths which isn't the end of the world and my being a guinnea pig will help others which makes it worth it. Trying to get a N Hunter warning was hard but I got there in the end! I now have one N Hunter Applicant Refer flag on a Natwest account when I applied twice in the same day using only different salary details which avoided cifas and went to N Hunter instead.2010 - year of the troll

I think you'll find that they will have problems with HBOS, need me to post a link to Budgeting & Bank Accounts to see the complaints made about them or can you find your own way there :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
HBOS are notorious for messing you around and should be avoided at all costs, especially when you bank with Barclays - why swap to a substandard tax payer owned bank? (kinda like going from a 4 bed house to a 1 bed flat if you see the irony)2010 - year of the troll
