hi ajmoney, have you looked at ebico's site, I think I can save even more by swapping to them, I think it will halve my gas bill again! I like their not-for-profit ethos and their refusal to penalise those on pre-pay meters!

Well - I'll have to bear that in mind next time I'm deciding whether to change suppliers - a year's time in fact - but I like to plan ahead:D
Still thinking to myself what a huge amount our Weezl has paid off the mortgage in that period of time and what a large percentage to cut the fuel bill by - you go gal.....right behind you thinking "pick up tips ceridwen, pick up tips....and any time Weezl decides to do another blog or anything on financial facts I'll be right in there for a good look".

:D Thanks C!
Pammy, you're right, I don't think energyhelpline or uswitch list ebico, so you'd need to make sure they were still the better option even excluding the cashback incentive.
BUT, a big bonus with them is that they charge the same tariff no matter what payment method you choose, whereas the other providers offer their cheapest tariff to those who pay direct debit, but then insist on permanently having £40 of yours sat in credit with them!

Oh well shaz, since you've asked so nicely
:D
Freezer is very well stoked as a result of a 22p a head dinner option :money::money:
Weezl's cheap pasta puttanesca rip off(warning this makes 12 very generous dinners so please reduce if you have a little appetite/freezer/family/saucepan
:D
3 bags asda smart price penne pasta
1 whole tube of asda tom. puree
1 can asda chopped toms, slooshed out with approx a third to half a can of water
1 jar asda olives stuffed with anchovies (chopped into at least quarters, preferably finer) (don't worry, the end result isn't all salty & fishy, as anchovies are a key flavour in worcestershire sauce, it's a bit like adding a wallop of that)
a couple of good lugs of sunflower/veg oil
method:
put everything except the pasta (boil that seperately) in a saucepan and cook for about 5 mins til the tinny taste has gone out of the tomatoes.
Once pasta is done, drain it and add the tomato sauce. Mix well. The sauce is very concentrated so you're not aiming for a super sloppy end product, just a coating of the sauce on each of the pasta quills. add salt and ground black pepper to taste.
How this fits into a frugal living day:
breakfast, porridge and toast: 8p
Lunch: houmous sandwich 5p, slice of weetabix loaf 4p
Tea: pasta puttanesca 22p
peach cobbler 11p
milk in 3 cups tea- 5p
Total day cost: 50p
Good times:money:
shaz are you loving your new canner? ;)What have you experimented with so far?
How much are the co-op chickens?
Love Weezl x

hiya TPA
What have you got in? Chopped onion? olives of any kind? a few nuts/seeds...?
If you don't like anchovy then they also do the olives stuffed with garlic or pimentos which is also lovely
Any good?
What's in your store cupboard?

Calculated that dishwasher costs £1.20 per cycle:eek:.
:eek: Wow, can I ask how you calculated that? Was it the tablet + electric etc ?
I'm watching every penny with the electric but I didn't think it cost so much. I did notice a slight drop when I was handwashing dishes and some clothes tho, although it was the summer bill. Must dig out my leccie monitor again.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Hi cheerfulnessJust the electric. Took meter read before and after without swiching anything else on or off and then calculated the usage. That was a 50 degree cycle which took over an hour and a half to run...
