Greeting earthlings - I speak to you from the other side, from Ubuntu!
Managed to get my wireless card up and running no problems.
Just want to get PS3 Media Server going and ill be sorted.
Everything looks so much clearer including this websites and the speed is astonishing?!
Do I need an anti-virus etc?

No Anti-Virus is usually required... but if you still have windows installed, a Linux Anti-Virus program can scan your windows partition for any hidden nasties ^_^
Check the "Ubuntu Software Center" in Applications for Anti-Virus software..Laters

These are very helpful, better than these forums for linux:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/
Also to enable wireless have you tried the proprietary drivers System -> Administration -> Restricted Drivers Manager
It might be list there
Generally av is not needed however its worth running a firewall https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/firewall.html0 -

Just out of interest, find out how much hard drive space your Ubuntu installation is using.
To do this, look in System > Administration > System Monitor
Then look in 'File Systems'.
This week I have done a 'Minimal install' of Ubuntu Karmic Koala.
It starts with just a desktop and hardly anything else.
I used a 10GB hard drive.
Now that I've installed a few applications it's still only using 2.1GiB of space.
