Unregistered SIM
Hi
I've had a Motorola Razr sitting about unused for about a year. It was with O2 PAYG. Decided to give it a go the other day and am getting 'Unregistered SIM' message. From searching other posts here I guess it's been cut off through lack of use. My question is can I just buy another SIM card for the same network and fit it in the phone? Does a new SIM card come with it's own phone number? Sorry, not very up on how this all works.

Yes. you can simply buy a new O2 sim and insert into this phone.

If a Sim card is not used for 6 months it is usually disconnected. This means you lose the number and any credit on the phone. If you want to keep it you must make a chargeable call/text at least once per 6 months.
This happened to me, although I only had £1-2 on it. You tend to forget your old sim when you go on a contract.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Don't think you ever need to buy an o2 sim they are usually available free on their website. Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama

Thanks all - had a look at the 02 site and it does look like I can get a free one. So, if the phone was on 02 when I got it, it will work with any 02 SIM card I put in it and the new phone number will be on the pack somewhere - or will I need to call somewhere to get the number? Sorry, being a total dummy about all this.0

Hey dont worry about it
Your new number will be on the pack somewhere or it will be on the bit of card your new sim card will be on0 -
Ta again - think it's sunk in now! Just noticed it's actually T-mobile (duuurrh) but looks like I can get a free SIM for that too.0
