I think unless there's a bunch of students or people in similar situations to you, there's not going to be a lot of people joining your club! £6000 a year = £500 a month.

I didn't think for a moment I'd get many takers on the "follow me!" front as, as you say, it's a pitiful amount for anyone to actually survive on if you work it out on a monthly basis. The only real reason it is at all viable is thanks to my wonderful parents. The rest of it is a challenge just to me though: I know I could easily spend the surplus, but this is part 2 of my "financially sensible" rebirth.

Wooooo that is the second new diary I have randomly come across today, both written by people I have followed before and both cunningly disguising their new diaries on other boards ... gotcha LeeSouthEast and CONGRATULATIONS on being debt-free!

I've probably asked you this before but ... Sky+, two multirooms AND a Lovefilm subscription?? Presumably SkySports is non-negotiable, but what about the rest? Have you looked into all the millions of on-demand channels you can get on broadband, or the cost of buying DVDs second hand on Amazon? I got told about MSN player the other day, not long cancelled my TV license and just in the process of hooking up my TV to laptop. :D

Haha it's a new trend! Hide diaries from Fire Fox. :D

Thanks buddy! It was a slog, but got there in the end.

Sky. I actually don't watch TV (or if I do, it's once a month for something special). I just quite literally don't have the time! If I'm not working, I'm training, if I'm not training, I'm doing outdoors stuff. If I'm not doing outdoors stuff, I'm probably sleeping off doing any of the former.

Sky is actually for my parents. I said I'd pay for it for them in lieu of rent this year while debt-busting. Chances are I'll keep paying it next year as well, with my rent thrown on top. So figuratively my rent is really £163.

  • I spend the following:

    £200 on rent
£20 on heat and electric (share with 3 others)
    £15 on mobile
    £15 on broadband
    £25 into savings account
    £200 - £250 on food. Yes, I eat out a *lot*
The amount I spend on drink varies a great deal.

I earn a reletively average amount - about £1250 on average after tax each month, yet am still able to save a few hundred each month...
  • C ould almost join the challenge if you didn't eat out so much :)
