  • I recently read your review about 0% cards with no fee for transfering balances. Due to this I contacted barclaycard by telephone who advised that if I popped into the branch and completed the application ths indeed was the case.

After a trip to my local branch which is some distance away, I was notified that this deal is no longer valid in the branch and finished at the start of July.
The branch were extremely unhelpful and advised that they were unable to advise me of the new offer which would replace the previous one but would contact me when they knew.

This was over a week ago and still heard nothing, can anyone help as have balance to transfer from a card affilated to the RBS group so cannot transfer to RBS or Natwest

I had just posted on another thread (the one above) when I found your post of last evening. Have a read of it as it might help.

I was sufficiently concerned about my situation after reading your post that I phoned them myself. Via SAYNOto0870 I got a freephone number
0800 400 100 (it works - don't press buttons, just hang on to the end for an adviser). I spoke to an extremely helpful young man - he had a slight Indian accent but there was no background noise at all and it was a comfortable conversation. After my telling him all the facts, he confirmed that the offer is still on and that I should be getting a phone call in 4/5 days. To check progress he gave me 0870 154 0154 (which converts to
01604 234 234 via good old Sayno!) which is 24/7. Perhaps you should consider making a similar call to find out for yourself!

Little afterthought: If the offer wasn't on then the leaflets should NOT still have been on display in the branch. However it happens very often that old stuff isn't cleared out. It's sloppy.

    cheers schiff :o

    Hi all,

I hope im posting in the right place.

Basically I have a £2700 debt on a Natwest card at the moment of which the 0% dosent run out until November however due to the lack of available cards that offer a no fee 0% 6 month plus period nowadays I think im going to be stuck when I get a new card in October to transfer this balance to.

Ive had a Barclaycard, Halifax card, Egg card and now im on a Natwest Platinum card. The way things are the only option ive got apart from the low interest cards i.e capital one etc is maybe a Post Office card.

Im wondering if anyone knows what the limits are like on a Post Office card as the last thing I want to happen is get say a £1000 limit to put a £2700 debt on!

    Thanks
    Alex

It might be all that's available and at least it's something! Whatever you do don't refuse it on the grounds it's not enough!

The Barclaycard 10 months offer finished a couple of weeks ago and the branches still have the old application forms. My OH phoned up Barclaycard to see if the offer is still valid and was told it wasn't, however, they are sending her out a new form for 12 months interest free on balance transfers.
    Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me
  • I have been into 2 barclays branches & they are not offering the 0% no fee 10 month balance transfer - they both only offered the 2% fee balance transfer.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Capital One are now offering 18 months interest-free on balance transfers with two conditions - a 2% handling fee and you have to spend £100 on the card within the first three months of opening the account.

Obviosuly, they expect you not to stop at £100, but I can't find anything else negative about this deal...unless, of course, anyone here knows differently...

I applied for this card online a few weeks back but saw nothing about having to spend £100 in the first three months. When I applied online they asked if I wanted to do a BT, I filled in an approximate figure. When my forms came through they sent through a BT form which I did NOT fill in. Will my balance transfer still happen without that form or will they wait until I confirm it with them? I saw Martins email today and obviously this has worried me somewhat, really hoping I haven't screwed this one up!!

I also applied for, and was succesful, with the Cap One 0% intrest to Sep 07 - again there was nothing to indicate a £100 min spend on the card - is this a condition they have recently bought in?

I have found that if you make a small transfer onto the Cap One card, clear the balance and then make a large transfer, you only get charged the 2% once and this is on the first transaction. This may have been a fluke and they may catch up with me but I transferred about £200, paid the £4, then over £5000 and never got charged a fee.

Anyone else had a similar experience - if so post and Martin can add it to his article as 'ways to get round the transfer fee'.

    HTH.
  • Hi motepp,
I also went into my local Barclays Bank on Friday last week (21 July) to do a Bal Transfer and was told this deal had ended just the day before. The new deal charges a 2% handling fee with 12 months interest free. The fees-free deal is still being quoted by Martin as the best deal, so is it still available, or is it my branch being poorly informed??

    Does anybody know about this?
    Thanks Leanne

My current 0% credit card is due to end in August, and today I enquired at the local branch of Barclays and they offered me the application form inviting me to take it away and complete. When I asked for confirmation that if I applied in branch there was no BT Fee they knew nothing of the fees-free balance transfer. The 'Bank customer adviser' then phone Barclaycard who also new nothing of it.

Does anyone know if this has this now been discontinued or are my local branch poorly informed?

As I'm new to this Chat Forum I hope ths appears in the correct part of the thread?
