Amazon Seller accuses me of putting in 'bogus claim'

Thanks for all your responses. I was telling a colleague about this today and could hear how trivial it sounds in the grand scheme of things. Doesn't stop it from being upsetting though and good to have a place like this to vent.0

Personally I would have taken my OH and gone to the other address and said "xxx courier have confirmed that they delivered my parcel to you by mistake so I just need to check if/when you sent it back?", they will likely panic and hand it over. If not i would just say "ah well their mistake, the whole thing will have to be left to the police then".
Mind you my OH is 6ft 4 and an ex tai boxer lol.
Might be worth a knock even if you don't know them, don't be funny with them just ask. They may have taken the item in without realising and then not known where it should have gone to. Alot would assume either the courier/company will be in touch to recollect, or the original buyer will get another sent out.

I don't think they would have kept it! Plus I don't have an OH although I do have two tall lanky brothers.
I do not care for the item as I have already ordered (and received) from elsewhere.
Amazon have sent me an update: they have requested the seller send them a proof of delivery with the address on it...0 -
Result: Amazon have said they will refund the amount to me. Hmm, nothing about the proof of delivery. I wonder how much this has to do with me unsubscribing from their email alerts and using my voucher to buy all sorts of junk as opposed to waiting to redeem it on something more useful like electronics. Was priming my account for closure but now I think I will leave it open.0

I'd choose the Grauniad. They do well on this sort of thing.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I think I would have gone to the other address and asked for it. They might have assumed the courier had posted a card through your door saying they had left it there. Whenever my parcels get left at a neighbours, they don't bring it round to me, I go and get it and vice versa. I had a parcel here for about 3 weeks before one neighbour came and got it. (I did knock on a few times after about a week but they were never in)
Glad you got it sorted but I doubt very much it's anything to do with you not getting their emails anymore or what you spend your vouchers on. They probably just realised you hadn't got it so were entitled to a refund. Think happy & you'll be happy

Unfortunately not. I paid with a Visa card. The transaction is over sixty days now, ."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Hmm, Hayley, the tracking details show that they had left a calling card at the wrong address and had arranged a second delivery date with them. I think you're right about the reason for refund though.
missile, I think I was too naive. I had faith that Amazon, being such a large and experienced retailer, would have the correct processes in place to deal with such a simple dispute (don't laugh!). And also from my good experiences with them in the past. I didn't even give it a second thought so was very shocked by the response I got from both parties. So, yes, lesson learned but I hope this isn't something I have to deal with again in a long time.
I just want to add that from the date of my first query it has taken over a month to resolvebut I am happy with the eventual result.

I don't think taking a month is too bad, for this sort of problem. It does look that Amazon has finally sided with you.0
