Unhappy with O2/BlockBuster "Surprise"

to cut to the core....

'Won' an O2 suprise of a months free DVD's with Blockbuster and a £10 voucher to spend in shop.

All went OK, signed up with blockbusters local store and got 2 DVD's and £10's worth of sweets to boot - I feel justified in claiming these given the amount I spend with O2.

Exactly 30 days after signing up I receive an email from BB telling me my free trial is about to run out....

8 minutes later a 2nd email from BB telling me that I am about to be debited by £15 for the plan that I have agreed to be signed up to as part of the conditions!!!

Just a warning as I have yet to get any satisfaction from either O2 or BB

Did the email you recieve from O2 after winning the prize not have the below text included?

"Just visit o2.co.uk/blockbuster to get going. You will need to enter this unique code ****** tap in your card and address details and you will be up and running. Your £10 voucher will then be available for download. If you decide you don't want to continue this offer you can cancel at any time. "

I would have taken the bit in bold to mean that the supscription to the blockbuster service would continue at the standard chargable rate if you do not cancel within the free period.

Also there is a specific section on the terms and conditions on O2's surprise site which relates to this offer http://topupsurprises.o2.co.uk/uk_o2surprises_web/site/terms.html (scroll just over half way down the page)

These terms include the following:
"12) At the end of the Free Trial offer you will automatically be transferred to the: £1 off the standard price of the Blockbuster 2 DVD Unlimited Xtra plan, for 12 months (offer price £14.99 a month)
For customers who have opted for the O2 2 DVD Unlimited plan at the end of the Free Trial offer you will automatically be transferred to the:

13) £10 off the standard price of the Blockbuster 2 DVD Unlimited plan, for 1 month (offer price £2.71 a month) and thereafter automatically be transferred to the: £1 off the standard price of the Blockbuster 2 DVD Unlimited plan, for 12 months (offer price £11.71 a month).There is no lock-in contractual period, you can cancel or change your Blockbuster plan at any time. This offer is valid for the first year as a paying Blockbuster.co.uk subscriber. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO TAKE PART IN THE 12 MONTH BLOCKBUSTER 2 DVD UNLIMITED XTRA PLAN OR THE 2 DVD UNLIMITED PLAN OFFER YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION PRIOR TO THE END OF THE FREE TRIAL PERIOD IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY CHARGES BEING APPLIED TO YOUR CHOSEN CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD. See clause 10 below. "

Unfortunately I think that due to the above you are not going to get anywhere with either company.
