cheap formula for ALL, not just those on benefits

not sure, i need to speak to my GP about lactose intolerance, at the moment he has lactase added to his formula. if he eats dairy he gets colicky symptoms. my 9 year old still doesn't seem able to tolerate dairy very well although he can have a tiny amount. my lactose intolerant brother is now 26 years old and can tolerate a small amount of dairy too, but at the moment roo doesn't seem able to. so it's formula for a while yet i think because unlike most babies he's not having fromage frais or cheese in his diet.

I think if the government stop issuing milk tokens for formula then it will have disasterous consequences..... Some uneducated people will not buy it and opt for just buying cows milk instead, leading way for sick babies, allergies etc.......

i think the scheme allows for buying a tin of formula or buying cows milk. i am not sure of the details but the voucher would be used at the supermarket, not at a clinic. hopefully everyone will have somewhere taking part close to where they live, otherwise people in some areas won't be able to use the tokens.

at the moment the clinics swap tokens for free formula, and everyone else can go and save a couple of pounds on buying milk. the new scheme will only benefit those on benefits, and not cheeky mares like me

Its weird that people think breastfeeding somehow a bit smutty-i put this down to ignorance-but what do they think breasts were made for,for goodness sake!Its a real shame though that they dont see it as the most natural thing in the world

breastfeeding rates have been low for a long time. in my mothers day formula was considered to be the best, and only hippies breastfed. it will take a long time to change attitudes towards thinking breastfeeding is not only normal, but a good thing. having as many places as possible allowing breastfeeding on the premises will help. our NCT has produced a booklet listing all the shops etc. in our town that say you can breastfeed there. i haven't seen it anywhere though, except for the tourist information centre. mothercare has a poster up, saying that they're in the booklet.

actually I suspect what the poster objected to was the lewd comment that went along with the breastfeeding, not the act itself. Quite right too - it showed disrespect to both his partner and to everyone else in hearing distance.

Yes, they do sell formula, SMA, Aptamil amd Cow and Gate! SMA was unfortunately only 8p cheaper than Mr Tesco, but Aptamil was £1.48 cheaper!! Pity I use SMA gold. Am almost tempted to change to this but would it be a difference to baby? What do you think?

I posted earlier about my son not suiting certain milk. He had a runny bum most of the time, when it was suggested I change. I asked what would happen and was told baby was likely to get a runny bum for a little while, in my case he already had one, and if it was the milk making it so he would continue to have one so not a problem for me to swap. When I did swap to SMA the runny bum cleared up.

I had a similar problem when changing him to cows milk too. With daughter she changed so easily to cows milk perhaps I would never have had a problem swapping brands, but after experience with son I wasn't prepared to try.
