Hi All,
Have been advised by O2 that I have to put in writing my intention to disconnect. Is this right?
Really surprised if so as have always phoned up other companies to disconnect?
Thanks All!

nocando as leaving country and finishing all contracts. hmm, cant be arsed with recorded delivery letter etc etc.bellamy_47 wrote:just had same from vodaphone, request a pac code in writing it takes less than a week... a lot better than 30 days written notice! (a ploy for extra revenue methinks)
anybody else disconnected with O2?0 -
Well ive just accepted a new contract over the phone, so if they can tie you to another 12 months with just a phone call, then why cant they accept a cancellation over the phone!!0

FYI it is stated within the T & C's that 30 days written notice is required to end a contract.
For a copy of the T & C's please visit www.o2.co.uk/terms
The letter is not a major issue, all you need is somthing like i wish to terminate my ocntract as i am moving abroad and no longer have the requiremtn of the phone etc.
I would send recorded though to prove delivery.

Reading from other threads in the past regarding cancelling a mobile phone contract, the person had to inform the network (usually in writing) that they wish to terminate the current contract so that they don't get stung when they ask for their PAC (then the network says that they had to pay another months line rental because they didn't give them at least 30 days notice of their intention to cancel). I think its just best to follow the T&Cs for the correct procedure or else the contract may not end fully (if the network is really strict and compares the actual T&Cs to what has happened).

As long as your minimum term has elapsed, you simply request a PAC. The problem is that some people cancel their contract one month before the minimum term and then expect to get a PAC when they then ask for one. You either cancel or request a PAC if you want to keep your number and transfer it to a new provider. The new provider uses the PAC which will terminate the original contract and then you are sent a final bill to cover the number of days from your monthly billing date to the date that the PAC was used. I have cancelled mobile contracts over the phone and have never written a letter! I believe that they are simply using every available tactic to try to delay the inevitable fact that they are losing a customer.

This happened to me too recently. Previously you could cancel over the phone but this time I got told that it had to be in writing. Luckily I had my contract to hand and reading it carefully YOU CAN ALSO SEND CANCELLATION BY EMAIL..read section 13.1 on how to do this and sed to mycare@o2.co.uk .....but double check the address as I am doing it off the top of my head. They accepted my email disconnection notice0

That is what I was told aswell. after being transferred on the phone 3 times i agree they try to make it really difficult to cancel but very easy to sign up. anyhow the address to post to is at O2
