  • Slight change to the mealplan today ;) DD has done homework all afternoon, and then got an invite to a friend of hers (who now goes to a different school, so they don't see each other much). DS and I are having beef curry ( 2 portions from the freezer) and some naan bread (from the freezer). I have some broccoli on it last legs in the fridge, so we'll have this if it's fit. Otherwise, it'll be frozen for soup and I'll nave beans from the freezer :D

I wondered that too so l had a quick look on google and found this. It sounds really simple and yummy so I might give it a go too as I have all the ingredients in. Thanks pawpurrs.

I still haven't made a list of what's in my storecupboard or freezer. :o If I'm really honest, I'm avoiding doing it because they are so crammed full of stuff that it seems like an overwhelming task, but we have been eating from them over the last week and have only bought fresh fruit (how much fruit can two boys eat! ) and veg and milk. We managed to use up some hm burgers that have been in the freezer 'forever' :o on Friday night. We've had broth and a spicy mediterranian chicken casserole to try to make some inroads into the mountain of chicken and stock I have in the freezer and today I did fried rice for tea to use up some bits and pieces in the fridge. Normally I'm very traditional about having a roast on a Sunday but it was quite nice to do something that didn't tie me to the kitchen all day 'minding' it.
This week dd is coming home from uni for a few days :j and has asked for any food as long as it's 'real' food that isn't tinned or cooked in a microwave. She's a pasta freak so I'm going to make two of her favourites, a lasagne and Delia's minestrone soup for two of the nights she's here to try to make a dent in the pasta mountain. Not sure what I'll do for the third night yet but unless she has a special request it will be something from the freezer.

It's great to see this thread revived again and thanks to you all for giving me some great ideas.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Good Morning!

Just had a lovely refreshing breakfast - a kind of hm muesli using up oats, seed mix, dried cranberries, some dates, last of some tinned pears and juice with some orange juice poured over and left to soak in. Possibly tastes better than it sounds;) but used up a few bits!

I have a fair bit of chicken left over from yesterdays dinner, so risotto tonight, that will use up the 1/2 bottle of white wine from the fridge (we only like red:o) and 2 opened and half used packs of arborio rice  more of the garlic our neighbours gave us and whatever else I can find to fling in!

Off to the hospital later so lunch will be 1 of those 18 tins of baked beans on a jacket spud.

We had to go buy dh some milk and yogurt at the weekend (he really doesn't like the soya milk) also some eggs, yeast and flora for baking and bought a couple of packs of sausages as they were so cheap.

  • I've managed to make up another week's meal plan relying heavily on the storecupboard.;)

Monday Shepherd's pie using up last night's leftover lamb and veg
    Tuesday Lasagne from the freezer
    Wednesday Macaroni cheese
Thursday Sausage and mixed bean casserole
Friday Bacon and mushroom omlette and chips
Saturday HM Pizza using the jars of antipasti and frozen cheese
    Sunday Roast pork

Will also make up a pea and ham soup for lunches so all I need to buy this weeks are the pork and a ham hough from the butcher, eggs, fruit, milk fresh veg. If I see any bargains though I'm still picking them up and yesterday got a couple of packs of YS organic lamb mince which I've frozen. I really need to replenish the baking tin either today or tommorrow and am planning to make rocky road, choc chip muffins, fifteens, pancakes, scones and wheaten bread for which I have all the ingredients in the larder. :D

Pup had a pasta bake while we had the last of the burgers from the freezer with chips & a tin of beans. Some 'sandwich steaks' are defrosting for tomorrow to suppliment the bag of branded frozen meatie stir-fry stuff & add extra carrot & things from the fridge. Fingers X I'll get that pesky freezer cleaned out by this time tomorrow, cuz I'd like to start doing bits of portions for the offspring to be able to take for lunch. Having said that, they are quite happy to take Marmite sarnies every day if left to their own devices:p

Tonight we're having another BMF conncoction made from slices of:-thawed roast pork, onion, potato & maybe a tin of toms, altho my lot are not that keen so probably just use water. Pup has pig's liver & I'm pondering on throwing in a bit of chopped apple too, to shift them from the bowl. My lot like a particular variety but only from certain countries, so I bought my favourite ones last time & no-one has eaten them, including me :o
