HSBC told me to jog on when I went for a Student Account, I don't actually know why, I had no searches/history etc, I guess they're just harsher than Natpest (who accept everyone), and want people with history....
I might apply for the student account again and appeal it if they reject me (didn't know about appeals last time I did it), if I got that would it help? Or are these lot like MBNA? An elite club that decide they will hate me until I get a job? :rotfl:
I was unsuccesful in yesterdays interviewNo surprise there though, but if I had got that job, would I have been able to apply for things and put full time? As it would've been a full time job until September........ I can't afford to mess up my file obviously (Accounting) just wondering because I don't know how it would actually work, as saying I've got a full time job wouldn't have been a lie....

FD are a harder bank to open an account with than the high street banks. They also have minimum salary crediting requirements unless you want to pay a monthly fee. I think it's highly unlikely as a student you'll get a FD account.0 -

Have had my Vanquis card for three months now, started at £500 limit. I spend up to around the £300 mark on groceries/petrol then pay the bill in full as soon as it comes in.
I got my third statement (generated 25th May) which still says limit of £500 but when I rang to check the balance it said I had £700 available credit. A few hours later I get a text saying the limit has increased to £1000 :j
No way I will ever spend that much and if I did I would pay it straight off but am just pleased that I'm gradually creeping up the credit ladder ready for a mortgage in a few years.0 -

Basically if you have an ok income,a good credit history, there is no reason FD would turn down anyone, obviously if you have had recent or past troubles managing money then yeah you would find it hard to an account with them.0 -

3 words - GOOD, CREDIT and HISTORY.

Whats the chances of me applying and getting a account mate you think?
Mate i think your chances are practically zero if you have CCJs from 2006 and 2007. CCjs will always show up in the public data section of your credit file for 6 years whereas credits accounts (defaults) will not depending on how far back they search.0 -
Anyone know whether Nationwide are generous with their credit card limits?0

Still find it harsh HSBC rejected my student account application last year though, might try again this year, as I have a relatively decent credit history now (9 or 10 active accounts I think it is, all of them apparently paid on time so getting green 0's - 2 of them are bank accounts that have been open since 2002/3 and 1 card & contract since June 09, others are 2 catalogues, 2 more cards, three sim zero and some more bank accounts)
If I close JDW can I take advantage of any future "new customer" offer? (10% off first shop etc?). I've given up with them though but just incase they ever happen to have something cheaper (I highly doubt it) than elsewhere... they send me a small forest every couple of weeks and won't put my limit up, I think I've got enough other things to knock them off now and it have no effect?0
