Just commented on the other thread but they have also increased the maximum limit to £3000

If a company like vanquis are upping their credit limit to £3000,its the people who don't understand how to use a vanquis card i feel sorry for....
I always payed them on time, had to cancel it in the end seemed like if you pay your bills on time, never go near your credit limit and try be a good customer they penalize you for it....
After just over 2 years found my APR to be around 52% APR..
Basically for the people who are thinking of spending on the card just make sure you try not to leave such a big balance on the card, because if you can not afford to pay it,you might find yourself being a vanquis customer a lot longer than you intended to...

    **Shudders**

Imagine the repayments on a debt of £3,000 assuming an average APR of what, 40%

I'd rather eat dried rabbit droppings, personally (they are meant to taste a bit like ermmm, dried rabbit dropping)! :rotfl:

My Ex/OH (varies) has just had his (allegedly closed) Vanquis limit increased to £2,500 on a 59.9% APR. So that'd be over £100 a month in interest alone. LOL.
HSBC search 3 years mate so do FD - it is an Experian thing, unless they specifically request a full search in which case you'd know cos they would also search the other CRA (i.e. Equifax)......

Do you think the 3 year rule would apply if, that three years is spotless but there's a BR order + six defaults sat at 3 years + 1 month? Somehow I don't....

EDIT: NID - Can you link me to an acceptable list of ID for HSBC? Can't find it anywhere.

Hello stranger! Hows it going? So are you and the ex back together or like fcuk buddies nowadays? (did I really just ask you that eeek)!! :rotfl:

As there is data that is public data it will show for 6 years so no avoiding a full search, as the bank have to investigate the public data and this will involve a full search.

HSBC ID you online, they do not have traditional ID requirements, for instance they will accept you if someone in branch can vouch for you - they are a little old school in many respects, but the usualy documents will suffice so one with your name and address (name verification) such as passport/driving licence/tax coding letter and one with address like a utility bill, bank statement, CC statement etc

Yeah all's well, on the up and up. Starting college full time in September and going part time with my job; two years from now I'll have the equivalent of six A levels and 500+ UCAS points :D Obviously uni after that so in education for the next five years at least but I'll be running the show when I finish ;)

The reason I ask about ID is that HSBC branch in Exeter advised me that the branch manager has the authority to override a decline but only if I apply in branch; and the ID I brought with me wasn't sufficient (this was a couple of months ago).

Hence I wanted to have something to refer to just to see what they do want so I can save face if I ever decide to go there and re apply (if I do it won't be until next year anyway - Lloyds are treating me right touch wood).

    new lower limit on vanquis

Nice to know I no longer have the lowest credit limit Vanquis offer. Shame it's still £250 though lol.

After reading through my bump for my Yorkshire Bank CC it says I am a profile rate cardholder. Does anyone have any idea what this means? Will I still recieve my 0% for 16 months?

This means you're their standard rate customer, i.e. you will be offered apr at their standard variable "advertised" rate so probs be around 16.9% mate.

    From: https://www.nagcreditcardapplication.com/yb/start.do?cardtype=MG
Typical 16.9% APR variable. The APRs and fees may vary. At the end of the Introductory rate the Select rate will apply.

Its the gold card right? That comes with 16 months @ 0% so yea you'll be offered that - well done. :T

    * Can you confirm was it done online and did you get instant approval or was forms sent through the post after a few days of applying online? Just helps other people.....

Unfortunately this doesn't mean that much - I was approved for a Virgin Mobile contract with an undischarged bankrupt and about £50,000 worth of outstanding defaults registered in the prior 12 months! Their credit check seems to be no more than an ID check :o
