The Sub Prime Credit Thread - Part IV

As a long standing user of credit I can say that those with no credit history or limited history of under 2 yrs will find it very hard to get credit, Yet those with a poor history having 4 yrs or more of credit history will have a greater chance of acceptance. Once I had 4 yrs of good history I was able to get any credit I want. However I lost my job in 2007 and fell into default on 2 loans and 2 cards. After being back on my feet for 2 yrs now I am starting to get accepted for credit again due to the fact of my previous good history prior to default.
Using capital one and vanquis helped me to demonstrate that I was still able to repay my debt and has contributed greatly to restoring my credit history.
Going by my experience give 2-3 yrs of good behaviour with sub prime credit then you should get mainstream.
hope this helps.0 -

Since i last spoke i have got loads of dem green o's on my file, and just got a 42" on buy now pay in 12 months from Curry's, going to clear the balance after Christmas. I tried to get another loan but got declined 3 months ago, but looking back it was probably a good thing as i have now cleared my Argos,Next and Barclaycard and owe nothing besides the finance on the tele.0

I got declined for a mobile contract! I was in the Orange shop and saw a phone I wanted. Somewhat embarassed when he said it was declined.
I told him I had a perfect history with a number of cards. so he had no idea why. I asked him to call up the department that can overwrite the decision and they said I have to fax them a copy of my credit report and they'll overturn the decision.
So I have to order my report, go back down to the Orange shop so the guy can fax it over. As soon as he said declined, I demanded he phone whomever to get it overturned. He was shocked as much as me, telling me someone on benefits with a less than perfect credit history was accepted just moments ago.

Grr. The phone I wanted, I really wanted, today!
It is only available on Orange. Now I'll have to wait until my credit report arrives. I'd check my report online but I don't know if they'd accept a print out of it.
