  • ah yeah, you guys literally just over the border from me get all the perks lol!! my friends family moved 10 miles into scotland just so she could get her uni fees paid!

yeah i just got my last apck thru from my dd scheme, but i have the continuous wear ones so never really get ahead but think as ive paid for them, I wont need to buy any for three months then am def going to buy some online!! Because i really could do with that extra cash for a while lol! What do you do about getting lens checks etc? Im kinda used to getting my eyes checked every three months and while ive never had any probs im curious a to what happens if i did?
  • Well I managed to not spend any money today :jand am going to try for another NSD tomorrow... to be honest I almost feel like Im cheating as I dont really have any money left til payday (tues) but still feeling pretty pleased with myself lol!

Figure if I let myself spend a little money on tues, well do my food shopping, then I can try to not spend anything else til fri and be a proper little good girl! I have £40 a week to live off after bills etc til my dec 24th payday so the less I can spend over the next two weeks the more I can spend on my flat when I move in :D altho ive just been given a sofa and load of cushions so its less and less i need to buy! I also plan to try and eat the food i have left in my cupboard then do a reasonable sized shop when i move!

however I didnt manage to get much of anything done today because i ended up at my parents house for tea (thereby saving even more money by eating their food!) :rotfl:oops, well still next weekend to have a proper sort out! Also I should find out for def if i ve been accepted to rent my flat and sort a proper moving in date! fingers crossed for a good week...... oh and that all this evil rain and wind goes away, not sure carlisle can take anymore lol!!
  • Great diary - I shall subscribe. I too made silly decisions after Uni (and before, and during) and have been paying the price since. Good luck on your debt free journey :D
  • Hi Buffy, love the name!!

there seem to be a lot of us who made those kinds of decisions!! I think its cos you have all that money at uni (i got allsorts inc very very big od and cc's thrown at me) get into a certain lifestyle then cos you are working think oh well... Im earning now can buy what i want! Took me a few years to wise up to it not being like that lol!!

Im going to double check my figures for my DMP later and post a signature with how much exactly I owe :-S its around £11K now

be warned tho this diary is likely to include various rants on being skint, single, work, my horrific housemates and various financial institutions attempts to ruin me every time i get on my feet :rotfl:... as well as ramblings on what ive managed not to spend :D:D

    Sounds about right to me!!!
  • another NSD down:j despite slightly crappy day at work! did quite well altho its pay day tomorrow so will spend tomorrow but ive been reading other diaries and slightly plagiarizing ideas :p so im going to work out a treats budget for each week and use that for fun stuff!! I think this month seeing as I only have £40 a week its gonna be a strict £15 for food and £10 treat budget, then i can use the spare £15 to save towards things i need for the flat or for Christmas pressies! or thats the plan anyway :D plus gives me some money to pay for the cinema on weds... New moon... cant wait!! im determined to allow myself a little bit of fun because ive noticed recently that when im really skint and cant do anything i end up going a bit mental on payday! I just have to avoid my usual ahem larger spend in asda on payday :o this month! I also ''pay'' myself every friday so i have money for the wknd but im not sur thats such a good idea now as i seem to easily blow it by mon then end up shifting more money around during week therefore ending up with very little at end of month! so as payday is tues this month i might just pay myself then or mondays! Im still aiming for at least 3 NSD's a week... so 1/7 so far and will be spending tues and weds  but im sure i can manage thurs, and fri without spending :D

Ive also just signed up for a dance class.. not particularly mse :o but its only £4 a week and ive quit my gym membership and am feeling decidedly flabby and unfit again so thought that gives me an hr of exercise a week :D

so many things today have made me very glad im getting my own place.. dirty dishes in the kitchen, not being able to use the washing machine as everyone else is using it, not being able to cook because of horrible housemates in the kitchen, way way too much noise (banging doors, very loud music, computer games, shouted conversations up between three floors.. its goes on and on!) cant decide if its always been this bad or im just allowing myself to realise how annoying it all is because soon ill be FREE!!! :rotfl::T

anyway think im going to try and have a lovely relaxing bath... if i can get enough hot water to come out of the taps to fill the bath and it not be freezing as it usually is.. and if noone bangs on the door complaining because ive been in there for more than 5 mins (we do have two toilets and showers so i really dont get the problem apart from the purpose of winding me up of course) In case anyone hadnt noticed I really hate my houes and really dont get on with my housemates! All civility has long gone since i handed my notice in and the land lady has threatened the remaining guys with eviction! urgh cant wait to get out and get rid of all this stress!! :D

well thats my ramblings for the day! Im liking this diary business.... gets it ALL off my chest before bedtime :rotfl:

Contact lense checks come as part of my care package for wearing contact lenses they contact me every year. Kinda makes scotland sound good up there - lol all the perks !
  • hmm thats kinda good if they do checks as well, will def be sorting out changing from the opticians im with :j

i agree, scotland is actually nicer than most of england... apart from the lakes and carlisle of course ;)
  • Well despite lloyds best efforts Ive had confirmation that Ive got the flat :j:D:j
they have some how ''lost'' the reference request even tho it was hand delivered by the agency to my branch as its theirs too so was told to ask that they send it again, so i went to see the lovely people at the agency showed them some bank statements etc and she said while they will ask again they wil go ahead with the flat as all my refs are great, my credit check was fine for their purposes and my bank shows money going in and out! so they are going to call me tomorrow to arrange moving date!! I really really need to get out of this place because i hate it so much now!!! sometimes i wonder if all the banks have just decided they dont like me and are going to make my life as difficult as possible however they can! oh well they've failed this time :D

Anyway Ive had a really bad day for spending, but i got £45 more o/t then i thought so i decided to get some bits at asda where they had a tv series dvd that my bro wants and one that his fiance wants on 2 for £20, so i got them and some choccy bits so thats them sorted! Even tho it meant ive spent more that i should have, but its half of my shopping done already so dont feel too bad :rotfl:

besdies that ive spent: (with budget the money comes from next to it!)

£2.95 case for my mobile as im rapidly destroying mine - treats
£3.57 drink and some cigarettes - treats :o oops
£41.38 asda - christmas pressies, deo, cheese and £10 cashback used for lunch, cigs and drinks at work (again very bad but its from my extra ot but i really shouldnt have spent it :o)
    £4 poundland - food
    £12.37 - tesco - food

so thats it..... I have £17 left for this week to include my cinema tix tomorrow (but its on 241 so will be cheap), however im not so bothered by that a i actually dont nee anything else this week.... i am plannin to try and save £10 of whats left because im going to need lots of things for the flat! :j so really i only have £7 left :o sure it will be fine!

worked out i have a grand total of £46 a week to live off this month... not so great but i only need about £20 of fuel this month and am off to visit grandma who often gives me petrol money and pressie money so thngs might improve! Oh and i cant forget i have a massage booked for my whiplash so thats another £20 but im pretty much unable to move my head at the mo so its kinda essential! so thats £40 a week to live off :o to be fair ive lived off less lol!

so after my crazy spending and ridiculously horrible wet day at work (trust me...cumbria is not drying up anytime soon!) think i might treat myself to a lovely hot bath and some of my lush stuff to pamper :D and ive noticed that even just a few days of writing this diary im already less stressed!! :D

    Hi AJ

    Congratulations on the flat! :T

I live on my own tho have house-shared previously & I can tell you that it's bliss

The cost is the big downside so definitely keep that spending diary. You might also want to check out www.spendingdiary.com I use my mobile for my daily spends while I'm out & about then transfer it all to that when I have time. It's really good as you can get reports etc to see where all your money is going (sometimes a bit )

    Enjoy your bath :D
