    You could try a plastic bottle, cut the bottom off & either squeeze the bottle or sort of squash down to create a vacuum - hope it helps.

    DH used a plastic tumbler to create an air lock on ours. It fit into the drain recess and he just pumped it up and down (with the sink full of warm soapy water) and it did the trick on ours.

    I like the vinegar and bicarb trick, though that only works when sink is empty.

    Pour bicarb down sink, pour vinegar down. Cover hole as it will fizz manically! Flush down with hot water, preferably poured from high (carefully!).

    just done the bicarb (is baking powder the same? i used that :p ) and vinegar and now its emptying perfect :)
