Must be a very dodgy drain or you have put the equivalent of a piece of fat the size of Wales down the sink.

Even a full cup should not have blocked it, sounds very dodgy and once you have it cleared (good luck!) as it is a rented property it would be worth mentioning.

Think that the best thing for you would be to undo u-bend under the sink and clear the bolckage manually. Put a washing up bowl or similar underneath before you undo it.
If you already have a bottle of bleach down there then I certainly wouldn't put any other chemicals down, Mr Muscle or otherwise, as there could well be a reaction between them.
Boiling water will melt the fat in the end so that it stops being your problem, but much better to get it out of the pipes.

To avoid similar problems in the future, pour all fat into a bowl kept for the purpose, or wipe it up with a bit of stale bead, and put it out for the birds to eat or if your council collects food waste put it there or if not it will have to go to landfill. Never put it down the sink - as well as blocking your pipes it can block the sewers and cause flooding as well as encouraging rats and costing huge amounts to clear out. The same applies to oil as this will saponify with many of the chemicals that people put down.

Ideally I'd go for the plunger, then if needed caustic soda. Unfortunately, you do need something pretty harsh to break down food, oils and hair, and you need to give it time to work. If this isn't available you could however try an unwound coat hanger down the drain to try and dislodge any food and fat which is blocking it.

Electrical flex works well - if you jiggle it about you can sometimes get it round the ubend - brilliant for snagging hair out of the bath and shower drain.

Poundland do their own sink and drain cleaner and it is really good - I use this when all else fails and it clears a blocked tolet in about 20 minutes
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

my mother came round with mr muscle - which didn't work....

NEVER put salt down a blocked drain.... i took the sink apart and there was 4 - 5 inches of salt sat on top of this tiny bit of fat whichmakes me think that the mr muscle never touched the fat at all....

    hahahaha.

i now have horrid dry hands from the 2 bottles of bleech, the bag of salt all the lemon juice and the mr muscle....

and i honestly know not to put fat don the sink - however the cheap mince had sooooooooo much more than i am used to as i normannly soak it up with kitchen roll (or these fat trap things for roasting bags...), which apparatly wasn't enough this time.

when i said half a cup that was me guessing the amount - rather than stating how it got down the sink...

I do the same to mine on a regular basis... and squeeze a squirt of washing up liquid.. and leave for 5 minutes while the kettle boils and pour the whole kettle down the plug hole never fails...

oh.. and salt works on ice.. not fat!!
