i dont know why this is ...and my water bill is still the same as everyone elses every year with an added 340 for waste
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
Okay now I'm annoyed - we are paying £160 per year for our water supply and have no idea how much the waste will be yet as we've only just moved in.
The water supply is based on the value of our house (3 bed terrace) or something like that.
How does this measure up to what others are paying for their supply/waste?
If I'm being conned by Kent I will not be happy!Debt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -

I live in Bournemouth and my water supply is provided by Wessex Water and my sewerage/waste is dealt with by Bournemouth & West Hants Water. Never considered I was paying over the odds for it. Will have to investigate.
Piratess - keep your chin up. You're getting lots of good advice on here and I strongly recommend you contact CCCS or Payplan. If nothing else it will put your mind at rest. Good luck!

The water/sewage deal is legit. There are several areas that have differing agreements (Bristol for example has Bristol Water delivering, and Wessex Water removing sewage).
piratess, do you know if you have a water meter, or are you just paying an estimated charge? If it's an estimated charge, find out whether you can have a meter installed, and then also teach your family to save water where possible (turn water off when brushing teeth or washing up, get a loo hippo to flush less water down the loo, showering where possible).
Gas sounds very high... are you still running your central heating? If so, start turning it off (if your boiler allows you to program this) for periods where you are not in the home (mornings and afternoons) or any time after your latest bed time. It's not British Gas by any chance is it? Their prepayment costs are horrendous.
And absolutely, sort the catalogue people out. DO NOT PANIC. They've probably crossed their wires somewhere. Get letters as proof that accounts are closed etc, ask for STATEMENTS to see what happened to the account. Then see what else needs to/can be done.

can't offer much help or advice.but i looked into changing my sons nappies and using reusuable ones. but the inital outlay was big. might use them when i have another baby tho. but now the weather warmer he is often nappy less and just wearing little pants. he is 12 months old. and i have found not only does it reduce the amount of nappies i use but it helps him get used to a potty ( like his big sister) and stops him from getting sore. so not a huge money saving tip, but a fab little one in the warner weather.
as for shopping i spend about £200 a mont for family of 2 adults and 2 children. this is fab. but for some reason this month it has all gone to pot. but i still saving loads more than i used to.0 -

Everyone pays a sewerage charge don't they? It's just that normally it would be dealt with by the same water co.0 -
