Halifax just suspended my Online Access

Looks like a cheque would do the trick - just as quick as a BACS to earn interest at the other end!0

Would this payment have gone by Faster Payments ? If not it may have been better to wait for Monday rather than lend the banks your money over the weekend.
A lot of bank maintenance goes on over the weekend.
With the Large Hadron Collider now operational is their a chance that Nationwide can get a faster payment system to their members ?

I could very easily be transferring the money to cover DDs from my A&L current account which pays 6% interest. Part of the money for DDs and part to sit there. Sorry you felt I was unclear but I do not agree. So what one is it ? You are contradicting yourself Kavanne.
I have arranged the transfer of 5k in the halifax branch but I wish I had thought of the cheque idea whilst I was in town
I have just received an e-mail from Halifax saying I will be able to access my Online Banking from 9am MondayKavanne

Looks like their FP limit in branch is capped at £5k.Went to the branch and they said I could only transfer 5k for security reasons but I could pay £25 to send more?! !!!!!!?
If the transfer is set up on your account as a Bill Payment you could go to a Halifax ATM and make an additional 'bill payment' via that. I think it would most likely go via BACS though.
If £5k is the limit for FP in branch then what could they do? £25 is for a CHAPS.I had ID, my card, I knew my PIN.. I am upset by their over zealous security measures. I am all for security but they are just bordering on ridiculous...
Don't forget it's also possible that the reason your access was cancelled could be to protect you for some reason - if not from a known threat maybe from a perceived threat. Have they been able to give an explanation?0 -
Nope, internet banking said it was just an automatic thing.opinions4u wrote: »Don't forget it's also possible that the reason your access was cancelled could be to protect you for some reason - if not from a known threat maybe from a perceived threat. Have they been able to give an explanation?
I thought £1000 was Halifax's FP limit? Seems to have been when I have done transfers in the past.
Anyway in the Branch they were insistant the 5k cap was for 'security' not due to any limitation of the system. I said I was happy for payment to take 3 working days and not FP but they said the only way was to set up a standing order!Kavanne

Well the person you spoke to in branch was wrong.
Provided that you have enough valid ID, the only restriction as to how much Halifax will let you transfer out by BACS in branch in a day is the balance of your account.
Unless some sort of block has been placed on your account, which could have been the cause of or caused by your internet banking problems. It could be that, for whatever reason, they have limited your account to £5k.0 -
Generally the people in branch/on the phone have no idea what they are talking about....0

Exactly this happened to me when logging in from abroad (due to IP number checks). First I was asked to specify a telephone number which they could phone me back on, which I couldn't. Then access was suspended.I just tried to make a bill payment from my Halifax account to my A&L account and i got a message saying my access had been suspended?!Dagobert0
