Halifax just suspended my Online Access

I just tried to make a bill payment from my Halifax account to my A&L account and i got a message saying my access had been suspended?!

I didn't get my security wrong and I was already logged in when I wanted to make the transfer (sub 10k)....

Will Halifax be taking responsibility for any Bank charges I incur as a result of their delay?

I have just called them. They said their 'automated checks' would take up to 48 hrs and I could not speed this up.

I could however do the transfer over the telephone. Oh, you aren't registered for telephone banking password I'll put you through to someone to register and you can do it straight away.

I got put through and the person asked me for a password!! I said I have been put through because I don't have one.... and he said he can't do anything!

Do these people not know their !!!! from their elbow.

I just tried to get through to customer relations but 'due to an unforseen situation we are unable to take your call at present' then the line went dead.

I am very miffed as every day Halifax delay my transfer I lose interest.

Yes luckily I was planning to go to town today and the Branch is open.

HOWEVER I am concerned that if I attempt to make the transfer in the Branch and then Online Banking do their check and let my transfer go through I could end up severely overdrawn. Could this happen?

They should never ask for your password.

Well he did, twice. And said I failed (I just made random guesses at what I usually use)

He also asked DOB, place of birth, mother's first name and name of first school (all the online banking security I had). I asked if the password would be my online banking password but he said only if I had set it the same to which I replied again I didn't have a telephone banking password!!!

    Arg.

They ask for a telephone banking password.
Which is entirely different to the online one.

I have been asked for this in the past and when I said I didn't have one I was passed through to another operater so I could set up a password. Then passed back so I could then complete the transaction.

Went to the branch and they said I could only transfer 5k for security reasons but I could pay £25 to send more?! !!!!!!?

I had ID, my card, I knew my PIN.. I am upset by their over zealous security measures. I am all for security but they are just bordering on ridiculous...

I agree Kavanne, I think that I would be looking elsewhere for my banking requirements, that just is not acceptable,
