hi
my husband has managed to borrow someones costco card, i was wondering how closely they look at the photo, i know this will probably be dependant on the cashier etc, but i was wondering if anyone had, had any problems or been thrown out? also has anyone noticed costco selling dolce gusto pods?
thanks for any replies

You can usually get away with just flashing the side of the card with the logo on when you walk in, but not sure about the cashiers - the cards sit on the till the whole way through the transaction so there is a good chance the cashier will see the photo. It's not like Costco to chuck someone out though
They certainly sell the actual coffee machines, so can only assume they do have the pods, although never really been down the coffee aisle there. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

My husband uses his bosses all the time, they are are similar...... both little bald fat men. We are off to use it this afternoon. Not sure if you can pay by card though.0

I have joint membership with Mrs Phatbear and they wont even let me pay for stuff with my debit card if I dont have my costco card, so cash would be the way forward.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

thanks for all your replies, i was wondering if they let you pay by debit card or had to pay by cash, was just a little worried that i was to get to till and they say "thats not a photo of you" "out you go" - how embarrasing.0

You could always just try it and if they say anything just say you didn't realise as he asked you to get a few things for him, if it was me I would hand the card over and immediately start a discussion of how cheap a certain product was in store  .0

I find they hardly look at the photo on the card on the way in or at the till, I agree with the other posters, stick with cash and chat about coupons...;)0

My local branch always look at the photo on way in and at tills take both my debit card and membership card to make sure they match0

My local costco (MK) always looks at the card and always at the till - in fact I have been greeted by my name . I would be so worried they kick me out it would spoil the shopping experience.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
My costco checks the cards at the tills. I walked away for some reason and left the OH to pay, they checked my card and told him they couldn't put it through. I came back to the till and it was fine. They had no problem with me paying with OH's debit card though.0

I registered my second card to my father in law, who lives in another town. When he and MIL went to their local Costco, MIL tried to pay with her debit card and they wouldn't let her - they said 'It has to be the card holder that pays'.
However, when Mr N & I go to our local branch with my membership card, Mr N almost always pays with his debit card, and no-one has ever said a word.
It seems they are inconsistent.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
