Hi all spent the day with cg, :j wandered about the shops had lunch showed her where I work and lost cottage (sniff) its gone today took keys to estate agents yesterday.
She is lovely, quite nerve racking initially to be honest. We share all these things on here but meeting the real person its so different.
Must confess wasnt very organised yesterday,:o didnt realise the interview was going to be so long.
Next visit will be more organised get lunch in clean house etc...
Hows the work thing going urbs are you feeling any better?
Hi to everyone else.:hello:
Love all Messy0 -
Morning ff people,
cg and messy, glad to hear the meet went well - wish I didn't live so far away!!
It's pouring with rain here, so excercise has been put off until later - surely the summer can't be over already! I've had to dig a jumper out of the wardrobe ... brrr:sad:
urbs!! Lot of questions! I will do my best to answer. Perhaps a more accurate description of me would be "struggling freelance writer checking her email every five minutes for news of another feature turned down by caravanning weekly"
Hmmm. It's not easy, but I have been doing a few things here and there - I applied for a full time reporting job with a local paper a month or so ago and worked for them on a trial basis for a week. I had a really good time and got quite a few stories published, but I heard a few days ago that I didn't get the job. I was a bit gutted, but my mum persuaded me that freelancing meant that I could write about anything I wanted. I have been commissioned by a charity paper to write a feature about autism, and I am currently working on a series of pieces about pensions, but work is slow.
That is mainly the reason I am a fanatical moneysaver!
Getting started is always difficult, but once you start to build up a reputation, I'm told it gets easier!

What a long post! Sorry all xx- hard i know. theres loads of places that, if your good enough, would hire you.
im not sure where about in scotland you are, so say you were in the beautiful kingdom of fife - you might want to contact the fife free press, and just offer them, to write a weekly coloum on some item - now, reports on crime and the elderly do well for older people wanting to stay safe etc... you also have the oppertunity to do sports, legal etc.... its a wide range.
If you have had no training, what you can do is go to a college and take up a jurnolism course or do one through the OU
but there is LOADS AND LOASD to do in the fielld of jernolism - but watch your factsNever do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -

Careful_girl wrote:Awful day. OH complaining about everything and not a hint of trying to get a temp job. I have told him tonight that either he tries to get one for next week or I will. That will only solve the finances though. I am seriously on the brink of moving out. I have lost the strength. I cannot ignore this any longer. How in debt do we have to get? How aggressive does he have to be? Dunno. Time to look at property. Again.
CG.
CG (((hugs))). You really need to have a think about whats best for you, as i'm sorry to say it doesnt look like your OH is gonna do much at all thats productive. You need to think about your mental and spiritual wellbeing - which is something he isnt doing. Whatever you choose to do we're all here for you. He doesnt seem to be on your side anymore.
I know its hard, but so is living as you are. (((hugs)))A Fendi Baguette is not a sandwich.....

Hey DJ thanks for this. I do realise its difficult, but would love to give it a crack at least part-time anyway. Its my absolute passion. Sorry to hear about the job at the local paper, but well done on the charity paper and the pension work
I've never known how to break into writing, you never see a request for writers anywhere. I've had a few things published a long time ago, but distracted by 'serious career'! Still writing though, got to.
I've just been approached by a writer doing an article on encephalitis for a magazine, but the article included pics - eeek!!!!!! Still....... running...... in........ opposite........... directionA Fendi Baguette is not a sandwich.....

Hi all,
Can I join in too please on this thread?
I am newish-been here a couple of weeks but I finally had the courage to post my first reply to someone earlier tonight; everyone here is so friendly! No matter what your problem is there are people here whom are first to offer a kind word.
I dont know if anyone has posted about the yahoo messenger website yet? Its good place to just chat-to anyone around the world, but I would like to warn people to be careful - it is a just a chat place; and there can be some very unfriendly people out there. Make sure your computer is protected if you venture there!
