    Okay

I think there is nothing wrong with your meter and you do not need to pick up any message from the information you have given.

Some companies have a standing charge on their meters and a flat rate. BG and some others have 2 rates.. This means that if you use enough gas you will pay the lower charge throughout the day and the top up in the early hours. If you do not use enough gas ie none it cannot allow you to get all your units at the lower rate when you do start to use as this is all worked out daily. This means it store up the higher amount as debt. There is nothing wrong with this. It is just making sure you are charged at the same rates as everybody else.

This confuses so many people. I hope this helps you
Re the emergency credit you will need to pay it all back again before you can access it.

  • We have paid the debt in full (everything) i understand what you say about the rates for the gas & agree with you completly . Why have we been told by 6 different people that we must top up 3-5 times though? Today will be the 10th time. Where is the money that we have over paid?? Have the BG staff been telling us incorrect info.

Without seeing your account I cannot answer your last point. You will not have overpaid if it was the recalibration money that was taken. A member of staff should be able to tell you what message they have sent. As I have said before if people can see a message sent but not picked up they will keep telling you to top up.

I'm sorry you have been having hassle. As your wife is disabled make sure that you are on our Home energy care register. You will also qualify for extra help although not necessarily a cheaper tariff.

Now I'm going to do some housework!
