    Hi Foy

I am a Kitchen/bathroom fitter & plumber, not gas tho.

Sorry to hear about your situation, there is no easy way out about this.

There are two routes to go down.

    1 Discussion
    2 Legal

If you are adamant that you ordered the correct oven in the first place then you will ned to convince the installation company of that fact, bearing in mind

    a) You are asking the company to take the gas unit out (is there an existing local 30amp supply still in the location?) if this was removed then you are asking them to put in a new supply and test the circuit cost £100-200 + £75 test

    b) You are asking that they supply a new electric double oven and replace the gas oven cost of oven £300-400 plus fitting £50-100 and to cap of gas pipe £40

Total claim with new supply £565-805 or £465-530

If the company can provide NO proof of any requests by you (and btw when did you get confirmation about the oven they were supplying? before the job, during after, the picture you have the link to when did you get that?) i the absence of being able to proove they sent you this info, you do have a your word vs thier word.

A judge would order that you share the costs, both of you have a responsibility.

Them to tell you what they are going to put in and you to confirm that you are happy with what they are supplying.

It will be no defence to say "I was too trusting, I thought they understood what I wanted, I didnt check the specification" Judgement would go against you.

On the other hand if you can prove thay you asked for the information and they just went ahead then judgement in your favour.

In the absence of the facts in your case and seeing the estimate/quote/specification/contract documents one cannot be truly giving you the correct guidance.

My gut feel is that at some level you were not diligent enough in checking the specification, on the other they did not go out of thier way to make sure you were happy with thier proposals before commencing the project (oh and btw the brochure in the link clearly states that it is a gas oven, if they sent this to you in advance of installing the thing, judgement against you.)

An installation company would have had to include in thier price the cost of laying on a gas pipe, it was a very specific thing to do, they would not have deliberately laid on a new gas pipe and not allowed the cost (£100) they have gone out of thier way to down rate the electrics (maybe) and put in the new gas pipe, the judge would conclude that they had a very good reason to do this (they wouldn't do it just because they wanted to sell a gas oven) They supplied a gas oven to attach to the pipe, they connected the oven to a new (5 amp fused spur, they wouldn't have used the 30amp without putting in a new fuse somewhere)

They have every belief they had been asked to put in the gas oven and you didnt tell them no before hand, judgemet against you I feel. The costs against you in a court of law now go to about £500-£1000

Dont go there, accept that and try and get them to accept they share some of the blame split the cost perhaps, otherwise it doesn't look good for you my friend.

Post back if I have made an incorrect assumption that you feel is important, I know you feel let down, how much did you spend with the company? thats an important consideration in asking them to stand some of the cost (if they made very little profit then they are less likely to want to play ball!)

Lets face it if you have paid £5000-10000 for a kitchen then £500 might not be worth your time getting stressed over (and if the best you would get is a split then you are fretting over £250)

As Dirty Harry would say do you feel lucky?
Relativity - the study of relativity will reveal that time passes through all points simultaneously prooving that space and time are entirely reletive depending on who is asking the question and what answer you want to give.

Space is not merely slightly curved it can be bent to touch itself without breaking the rules of relativity. :rotfl:
